License quandry in the Fedora sub-space of all R packages
There was mention of this [r-sig-fedora at r-project.org] mailing list on one of the other R lists overnight. I thought the list needed a bit of posting, as I could not recall seeing content recently on it. I cross post to the Red Hat hosted list as well, it raises issues relevant there as well I have been packaging in support of many of the financial packages at CRAN and in R-Forge [

Finished a prototype of GSoC project: Implement a new doc toolchain
Hi, Kunaal and I have completed a prototype of the first part of our GSoC project (implement a new doc toolchain). Our goal is to implement a doc toolchain for short how-to docs and lower the barrier for new comers to contribute. This is the workflow of the prototype: 1. Contributor creates a new pull request on GitHub 2. A corresponding issue is automatically created on Pagure 3. Staff and

Trying to use current R2spec on RHEL.
Is there somewhere a succinct guide to just how much extra crud we need to install on RHEL to make use of EPEL packages? R2spec woes
I tried R2spec to create the spec files necessary to have Rcpparmadillo. I noticed that it has some issues, one example is that it placed some files irrespectively if they were present in the tar or not. One functionality that I think it would be nice to have would to update a given spec file with the updated dependencies. What do you think of this? Regards, -- Jos? Ab?lio [[alternative

Building rpm package for Hmisc on Fedora 12
Hi, I'm trying to get the 'xts' library from CRAN packaged for Fedora 12, and one of its dependencies is 'Hmisc'. I have created a spec file for that using R2spec, but building it fails with something in building the manual pages: Warning: ./man/escapeRegex.Rd:22: unknown macro '\backslash' [similar warnings snipped] Warning: newline within quoted string at

French IRC channel and mailing list ?
Dear all, For some time now, R is becomming more and more popular in more and more countries. France is for sure one of them, but french people being french one of the obstacle they might tackle is the lack of documentation and support in their native language. To offer this support in french an IRC channel (#Rfr on irc.freenode.net) was created some months ago, beside the official english

Difficulty Compiling RSQLite on Solaris x86 Using Studio 12 Compilers
Apologies if this is not the best list on which to ask for help. I have compiled R 2.6.0 using Sun Studio 12 compilers. I can install most CRAN and bioconductor packages that I need, with the exception of RSQLite. Unfortunately this is critical for other packages that I need. I have tried to compile it using R CMD INSTALL to generate a config.log file. I don't know how to fix the reported

randomForests predict problem
Hello everybody, I'm testing the randomForest package in order to do some simulations and I get some trouble with the prediction of new values. The random forest computation is fine but each time I try to predict values with the newly created object, I get an error message. I thought I was because NA values in the dataframe, but I cleaned them and still got the same error. What am I
