Unexpected behaviour in reading genomic coordinate files of R-2.7.0
Great R people, I have noticed a strange behaviour in read.delim() and friends in the R 2.7.0 version. I will describe you the problem and also the solution I already found, just to be sure it is an expected behaviour and also to tell people, who may experience the same difficulty, a way to overcome it. And also to see if it is a proper behaviour or maybe a correction is needed. Here is the

yum install to a portable location
I have googled, read the man page, and such. What I am trying to do is install applications to a NFS mounted drive, where the libraries and everything are locally installed on that filesystem so that it is portable across servers (I have over 100 servers which each need specific applications installed via yum and we do not want to install 100 copies). We tried the yum relocate and it was not

Yum cannot download from local repository
I have set up a local filesystem repo thus: # cat /etc/yum.repos.d/LocalFiles.repo # LocalFiles.repo # # This repo is used with rpms contained in a local filesystem repo # created with createrepo. You can use this repo and yum to install # items directly off the local disk. # # To use this repo with the other repos: # yum --enablerepo=localfiles yum --nogpgcheck <yum command> # # or to

tcptrack for Centos 5.5 32bit rpm
Hi list. I have rebuilt tcptrack now. You can get it from here: http://www.karsites.net/centos/downloads/5.5/tcptrack-1.3.0-1.el5.i386.rpm It's not signed, so to install it with yum as root user, do: # yum localinstall --nogpgcheck tcptrack-1.3.0-1.el5.i386.rpm in the directory you d/l it to. console lock up
hello, I am using 2.6.21, lguest-2.6.21-307.patch.gz and an image from http://uml.nagafix.co.uk/Fedora7/Fedora7-x86-root_fs.bz2 the console hangs, is this expected or caused by the image? I can still ssh to it or if I boot in single user mode the console is available but running init3 and it's hung. also is it possible to get the last gz patch released for 2.6.21?

synthesizing yum transactions
Ok, I'm trying way too hard to shovel myself out of a hole. We have a bunch of remote CentOS 6 servers, that were configured with kickstart. They've subsequently had additional RPMs installed/updated via the 'rpm' utility. We have reason to occasionally rewind the state of the server back to it's original set of RPMs. Of late, we've found that 'yum' handles this

yum update after fresh 5.6 install fails
Hi, I just finished installing a CentOS 5.6 x86_64 system and the first thing I wanted to do after the install is to apply the software patches. But I get the following error when I try to run 'yum update': Package libuser-0.54.7-2.1.el5_5.2.x86_64.rpm is not signed and yum update exits without applying any of the patches. I tried clearing the cache and re-running the update

Can't verify gpg signature for the file with hashes for the CentOS 7
Hello there. I've just downloaded the CentOS v7.0 via torrent and am trying to verify the gpg signature for the file with hashes. When I do "gpg --verify sha256sum.txt.asc" I get the key ID of F4A80EB5. Then I'm trying to get the public key with "gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys F4A80EB5" command. The gpg returns error of "no valid OpenPGP data

GPG signature of the RC tarballs
Hi. It looks like the gpg signatures of the RC2 and RC3 tarballs are bogus... I've tested the .bz2 and .tar.gz files downloaded from the us1 and us4 mirrors. To confirm that it's not a local problem, I've tested the signature of the Samba_CA.crt file (http://us4.samba.org/samba/ftp/) and it's ok. Can someone else please confirm it? Thanks. - Ademar $ gpg --verify

Please update GPG signature to long format.
Hi Michael and Dirk, there are raising concerns that, as of today's computing power, an attacker can generate a GPG key that has the same short ID as a target key. In this situation, it may be possible that a user downloads and trusts the attacker's GPG key, and as a consequence installs malware. For that reason (better explained in http://lwn.net/Articles/697417/), it is recommended to
