R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx on CRAN
Dear Ubunutu R users, Vincent Goulet and myself would like to announce the availability of R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu's latest release, Lucid Lynx. The packages should be on or arriving soon to your favorite mirror. R 2.11.0 packages also exist on CRAN for all Ubuntu releases going back to hardy. As Johannes Ranke pointed out for the Debian release, R packages installed under R < 2.10.0

A guide to R packages for Ubuntu
As per a request, here is a brief guide to what is available to R users as packages in Ubuntu. Each release of Ubuntu includes the latest version of R and the recommended packages. In addition, there are approximately 80 additional r-cran packages available in the default repositories. The limitation to these packages is that they are not updated and reflect the current version of the

Dear all, I am having exactly the same problem as Andy on an Intel Mac (see below / https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-sig-mac/2009-May/006208.html) with the degree symbol. I am using R version 2.11.1 (2010-05-31) on Xubuntu 10.04 with Windows fonts copied from /WINDOWS/Fonts and included via 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig' and 'sudo fc-cache'. Any help would be highly

Trying to install R on Lucid Lynx
Hi: I installed Lucid Lynx amd64 on my system today, dual booted with Win 7. I've managed to install several packages through the Ubuntu Software Center with success and also installed texlive. Alas, installing my favorite software has not been so joyful. I went through the last few months of posts in this group to find something similar, but to no avail. After a couple of false starts, I

I simply cannot install R on Ubuntu. I don't know why.
I don't mind using sudo apt-get update/upgrade/install buit I get into crazy loops (hours) that clearly can't be trusted. But when I use Synaptic (reload/mark for install R-base) every time I get some list of things things it want to install as well and syas "Mark" which it does not do and when I go forward with the Synaptic install of R-base I get this (and abort) every time:

multiple versions on ubuntu
I am new to ubuntu, but have used R for years on Fedora. I have a simple question that I do not quite understand. I first installed R from the ubuntu repository (2.6.2 I believe it was--whatever is current there) before finding the debian/ubuntu SIG here when searching for R 2.7.1. Subsequently I upgraded to 2.7.1 using the instructions at http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/. I am

R for ubuntu 10.04?
Hi dear all I am currently using Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) and R 2.10, I can find a R release that support "karmic" in cran under ubuntu directory, I plan to update my laptop to Ubuntu 10.04 after April 30, since I have to use some new features or new version in it, e.g. QT 4.6, I don't know if there is going to be a R release that will support this newly released Ubuntu? KernSmooth not loading in R 2.7.2
I just upgraded to R 2.7.2 (from 2.7.1) this morning (Ubuntu amd64 platform). Shortly afterwards, I ran into a problem loading the odesolve library, it could not find libRblas.so. I was able to fix this by rebuilding odesolve. Now, KernSmooth gives me the same problem... R> library(KernSmooth) Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath, ...) : unable to load shared library

Rgraphviz and R 2.9 in ubuntu jaunty
Dear people, I'm new here, so this is my first try. I have ubuntu 9.04 installed with R 2.8 (which surprises me because I realized that the last version R 2.9 is available but in the Synaptic Package Manager 2.8 appears as the last one). I have also graphviz 2.20.2. I have been trying to install Rgraphviz either from R running "biocLite("Rgraphviz")" and from the shell

Updating R for Linux
Colleagues, Please forgive my ignorance of this topic. I am experienced with the installation/use of R in OSX and Windows, much less so with Linux. I just created a virtual machine of Ubuntu 9.0.4. Using the Synaptic Package Manager, I installed R 2.8.1. I would like to obtain 2.9.x and I am having trouble doing so using the tools available within Ubuntu. I tried apt-get install

Partial update of r packages possible?
Hello I'm on Ubuntu 8.04 but I added in my source list some local mirror so I have possibility to upgrade to R 2.8. However, it seems that there is a dependency problem, (should install some liblapack libraries). This is not the problem, I can keep R 2.7. However, even if I'm not able to install R 2.8, the other packages: -r-base-html -r-base-doc -r-doc-info -r-doc-html -r-doc-pdf

Getting confused with two versions of R‏‏
Hi there, I used to run R 2.10 on Ubunutu 10.04, and tried to install R 2.11 from the source at the same time.It seems that doing the second installation, I have messed up with some files or system paths, resulting in not being able to use either version of R on my system. I get the following message in terminal, whenever I try to run R now: /usr/local/bin/R: line 227:

Problem loading Matrix package in Ubuntu R 2.8.0
Dear List: I'm having the same problem that was reported recently. The latest version of R cannot load the Matrix package, even though it is installed and readable. I've read the archive files for this list and tried the suggested solutions (e.g., removing/uninstalling the Matrix package and reinstalling it). Nothing has worked so far. Does anybody have advice of what I could try next?

Debian ?Ubuntu version of latest R using synaptic in Ubuntu 10.10
Dear List I use synaptic to download R on my Ubuntu 10.10.
