Ubuntu lucid dependency issue
Hi All,
I see some upgrades available for Ubuntu Lucid 86_64 but:
r-recommended: Depends: r-base-core (>=2.11.1-7lucid0) but 2.11.1-5lucid0 is to
be installed
I'm prepared to bet someone else might have reported it before, but I'm costing
grants I need to submit asap among screaming kids and I'm not 100% on the ball,
so advanced apologies for causing annoyance.
Best,

R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx on CRAN
Dear Ubunutu R users,
Vincent Goulet and myself would like to announce the availability of R
2.11.0 for Ubuntu's latest release, Lucid Lynx. The packages should be
on or arriving soon to your favorite mirror. R 2.11.0 packages also
exist on CRAN for all Ubuntu releases going back to hardy.
As Johannes Ranke pointed out for the Debian release, R packages
installed under R < 2.10.0

Hi,
i'd like to install R 2.5 on an Ubuntu 14.04.
I have a special software requiring this old version.

configure: error: --with-x=yes (default) and X11 headers/libs are not available
The problem is that i don't know which headers or libraries are missing, and when i search with aptitude in

Binding with libiconv failed while compiling R-devel on Ubuntu 17.04
Dear everyone,
I posted a similar question to Stack Overflow there: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46907554/binding-with-libiconv-failed-while-compiling-r-devel-on-ubuntu-17-04 and I was suggested to post my question here.
I tried to compile R devel using Dirk Eddelbuettel's recipe (and many variants of it). Regardless of what I do, I have:

R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx on CRAN [solved]
Thank you very much Christophe by your advice.
However, my situation was the opposite to yours, because I'm behind a
proxy but my sudo account couldn't see it, and when looked for the
proxy configuration of the sudo account with :
$ sudo printenv | grep proxy
the result was empty.
Finally, thanks to all the advice received in this thread, I could fix
the problem by editing the

CRAN-only "Hash Sum mismatch"
summary: updating R .deb's from recommended mirrors @
http://cran.r-project.org/mirrors.html
has allowed me to keep my R version up-to-date for many months. But
since Friday (25 Jan) I get errors like

but can install .deb's from non-CRAN sources. No fix from

updating r-cran- packages on a new Ubuntu lucid system
I am setting up a new Ubuntu lucid system on a Dell Precision T3500,
quad core, E5507, x86_64 box
and am having some difficulty updating r-cran packages as per the
instructions at
http://cran.us.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu
Perhaps the instructions are incomplete or wrong, or I've misunderstood
something,
and/or I've run into a dependency problem among r-cran- packages, vcd in

r-base installation fails on Ubuntu 14.04
I just essentially the same question on this mailing list and the problem
ended up being that my cpu's architecture was not supported by the ubuntu
releases (or any releases for that matter). I had to build R from source,
but it wasn't much headache.
The Ubuntu releases only support i386 and amd64 --- i.e. 32 bit & 64 bit
intel and amd cpus and not, e.g., the arm cpus that are

Problem building R-3.2.4
I am trying to build R-3.2.4 on an Oracle Enterprise Linux system, where
I have previously built R-3.1.3 and predecessors without problems. I ran
"./configure --with-x=no" ok. The make fails in src/extra/xz with what
looks like a Makefile problem:
liblzma.a: $(liblzma_a_OBJECTS)
$rm -f $@
$(AR) -cr $@ $(liblzma_a_OBJECTS)
$(RANLIB) $@
What I see in the make log is:

That seems to be my experience too.
I only have a few applications running under Wine and just two of those need MIDI playback for which I use fluidsynth.

Hi All,
I am trying to use an exiting CGI.EXE program on 64bit Ubuntu Lucid.
I have made a test program with the compiler (Borland C++Builder 5 ? BCB5) that just starts prints and closes.
Code:
#include <vcl.h>
#include <conio.h>
#pragma hdrstop
#pragma argsused
int main(int argc, char* argv[])
{
cprintf("small test");
return 0;
}

Installing Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid guest on Centos 5 using virt-manager
Hi,
i'm trying to install an Ubuntu Lucid PV guest on a Centos host but I can't
seem to find a working installation URL. I tried

various subdirectories but I always get the error "Could not find an
installable distributio at ...". In the OS Variant box I chose Ubuntu 9.04
