R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx on CRAN
Dear Ubunutu R users, Vincent Goulet and myself would like to announce the availability of R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu's latest release, Lucid Lynx. The packages should be on or arriving soon to your favorite mirror. R 2.11.0 packages also exist on CRAN for all Ubuntu releases going back to hardy. As Johannes Ranke pointed out for the Debian release, R packages installed under R < 2.10.0

Issues with unionSpatialPolygons on Ubuntu
Hi, I've cross posted with r-sig-debian since they may be an issue for linux (never had this problem on my windows machine...) I recently made the switch to Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid), and found that unionSpatialPolygons() gives me the following error when trying to combine polygons within a shapefile: # Read in shapefile and merge polygons foo <- readShapePoly("foo.shp",

Latest version of R from CRAN for utopic (14.10)
Hi, I am not in a hurry, but I would like to upgrade my ubuntu to utopic. However, for now, the latest version of R that can be installed from CRAN mirrors is not available for utopic. Indeed, I am not sure I understand this sentence : > UBUNTU PACKAGES FOR R > R packages for Ubuntu on i386 and amd64 are available for all stable > Desktop releases of Ubuntu until their official end of

Getting confused with two versions of R‏‏
Hi there, I used to run R 2.10 on Ubunutu 10.04, and tried to install R 2.11 from the source at the same time.It seems that doing the second installation, I have messed up with some files or system paths, resulting in not being able to use either version of R on my system. I get the following message in terminal, whenever I try to run R now: /usr/local/bin/R: line 227:

Problem loading Matrix package in Ubuntu R 2.8.0
Dear List: I'm having the same problem that was reported recently. The latest version of R cannot load the Matrix package, even though it is installed and readable. I've read the archive files for this list and tried the suggested solutions (e.g., removing/uninstalling the Matrix package and reinstalling it). Nothing has worked so far. Does anybody have advice of what I could try next?

make check reg-tests-1b.R fails with Ubuntu R
Today I built R from source on a 32-bit Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS box, and saw that the "make check" tests/reg-tests-1b.R failed. From the output at the end of my "tests/reg-tests-1b.Rout.fail" file, the problem is appearing in the "identical(z, x %*% t(y))" test code below. I then tried the stock R provided by the Ubuntu r-base-core binary package, and to my surprise, it

Secure apt
I am trying to add Michael Rutter's ppa to my repository.? I cannot do this from the command line.? I think I may be behind a firewall so copying the key to a text file is my best option.? When I search for the key at http://keyserver.ubuntu.com:11371/ the search fails. Tried typing and cutting and pasting E084DAB9 into the search box without success. How can I get the key?
