Re : R installation for Ubuntu (Karmic)
I recently had to re-install R on Debian Lenny. I couldn't install the latest version through apt-get. So i had to compile it manually from the .tar . This link is very useful:
http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html
Hope this helps,
David Biau.

WIne packages for Karmic?
I see there's up-to-date packages for Ubuntu up to Jaunty, but not for
Karmic, and the distro version is 1.0.1. Any plans for a nice package?

Audio problems in karmic-9.10
I am running wine 1.1.29 in kubuntu karmic-9.10 64-bit, and I am having a problem with audio in wine -- namely, there is none. The problem seems to be that in jaunty, there are several files installed in /usr/lib32/alsa-lib that are needed to support audio in wine, as part of the ia32-libs package. In karmic, those files are not present in the package -- there are only a couple of bluetooth

problems with Rcmdr on R-2.10.0 with Karmic Koala
Dear R Debian People:
I have put this on regular R help as well, but thought that I'd try here too.
I updated to R-2.10.0 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala via apt-get update, apt-get install.
Then I had a problem that said that I need MASS <= R-2.9.2. Fair enough. Uwe Ligges was kind enough to point out that I needed to use
> update.packges(checkBuilt=TRUE)
So I did.
Now the menu on Rcmdr

Does anyone know where I could find a precompiled binary for 64-bit Rkward on

that I should. Thanks in advance.

Hello.
I've tried to install R on ubuntu and all succeeded untill I searched for
the icon to execute, simply didn't appear anywhere.
I wrote in terminal:
*sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list*
then
added with :

deb http://cran.es.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu karmic/*
saved,
*sudo apt-get update*
and
*sudo apt-get install r-base*
as instructions say.
Then I tried to

R with atlas in ubuntu karmic 64
Hi,
I'm trying to install R with atlas in ubuntu karmic 64. I do a lot of
matrix operations so I need performance.
Doing
grep sse2 /proc/cpuinfo
tells me tha my CPU supports SSE2.
But I don't see libatlas3gf-sse2 in the package repositories.
Also, there seem to be some gotchas on how to install atlas, even the
vanilla one, as described here:

How to install C&C: Tiberium Dawn in Ubuntu Karmic
Hi,
I am currently using a hp mini, and my wine version is 1.0.0. I am trying to install Command and Conquer: Tiberium Dawn from the official website, and run it on ubuntu karmic using wine. When I tried it last night, I ran into the installation error: "Unable to locate necessary files. Please run setup.exe from the CD-ROM disc". Apparently others have run into this error, as it is

alsa-utils missing asoundconf in Karmic
Asoundconf has been my preferred method of changing my default card, to use wine outside pulseaudio.
However, Asoundconf has been removed in karmic, in anticipation of the new GNOME volume control + pulse configuration.
Now, if we need asoundconf, we must download alsa-utils from jaunty, and extract asoundconf from that.

Is there a version of Wine that works out of the box with a non-upgraded install of Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 desktop?
I ask because I am trying to install Wine on a computer that does not have internet access and I am not getting on very fast. (See http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=43875)
Thanks in advance

alsa not available in winecfg under karmic?
I upgraded to karmic yesterday, and ran winecfg.
The list of possible sound systems has shrunk to three: oss, jack and eSound.
I tried running winecfg plain, and with padsp and pasuspender prefixes.

color lines by group membership in spaghetti plot
Greetings,
I am new to R. Right now I'm most interested in the spaghetti plots
of achievement over time by student ID associated with longitudinal
analysis. How can I do a spaghetti plot of all students, but color
the lines by group membership such as gender or race, and indicate
this color scheme in the legend? Any advice would be much appreciated.
