Ubuntu and sources.list question about mirror sites...
Evening all:
Thought I'd announce myself with a question about setting up
sources.list to be able to begin download and install of R.
Running version 7.10 of Ubuntu. (Tried 8.04 but found it slow and
finicky with my hardware. Perhaps will try 8.10 or above, but that's a
thought for another time.)
Followed the notes on the R site and added the following lines to my
sources.list:

Partial update of r packages possible?
Hello
I'm on Ubuntu 8.04 but I added in my source list some local mirror so I
have possibility to upgrade to R 2.8. However, it seems that there is a
dependency problem, (should install some liblapack libraries). This is
not the problem, I can keep R 2.7.
However, even if I'm not able to install R 2.8, the other packages:
-r-base-html
-r-base-doc
-r-doc-info
-r-doc-html
-r-doc-pdf

ubuntu hardy packages 32bit no tcltk support
Dear all,
I noticed that the r-base package for Ubuntu 8.04.1 do not have the
tcltk support compiled in. Would it be possible to correct this?

R 2.7.2 upgrade in Ubuntu, tcltk does not work any more
Hello,
I had no problems running R with tcltk until the recent upgrade to
R-2.7.2-2gustsy1 (I use Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon). Since the upgrade
from R-2.7.2-1, I got this error (see hereunder). Obviously, I have now
a problem with tcltk-related .so files. What should I do? Thanks.

graphics on Ubunut
Dear R People:
I'm working with R on the latest version of Ubuntu.
However, I can't get graphics to appear, even with the
simplest plot commands.
Has anyone run into that, please?
I'm using R-2.5.0 on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn.
(Please don't puke. That's really the name)
Thanks in advance,

youtube.com complains about old version on 64 bit ubuntu gutsy
I read on lwn.net that swfdec has support for watching youtube.com
videos. Good work! I have not been able to get the Adobe 32-bit mozilla
plugin working under 64-bit gutsy so I figured I'd give swfdec a go.
A quick search of the archives and bugzilla turns up nothing obviously
similar to my problem.

Does anybody have a working version of LLVM 2.1+ (ideally in a .deb
file) that they're willing to share? I'm having some weird problems
trying to get a working version on my 7.10 machine.

Or even better, does anyone have a recipe for building on Gutsy?

[LLVMdev] Ahoy JIT Users
Hi,
I am starting to poke at the LLVM JIT, which seems to be in need of some TLC.
If you are a "sophisticated" JIT user and are using either internal
APIs (either by integrating with LLVM, or by other C++ tricks), or are
using obscure or poorly documented public APIs (e.g., why is
runJITOnFunction exposed?) please make me aware of it!

R Compilation error on Ubuntu
Hi
I bought a new laptop HP dv9500 just a week ago and installed a Ubuntu
gutsy ribbon on this laptop. I wanted to install Fedora but there are
more threads on Ubuntu, so I decided to install Ubuntu. After hours of
struggle in configuring x server/graphic card stuff, I installed R for
Gutsy ribbon using "sudo apt-get install g77 r-core'.
Now when I tried to install 'sp' package

I keep encountering the following error on Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 LTS amd64.
It seems to happen from time to time. Does any one know what this is

again on ubuntu 7.10 and amd64
Hi there,
this is my first post to the list.
I'm a newcomer to the linux world.
I started using it on a regular basis on May and I must say I'm quite
comfortable with it, even if I have to re-learn a lot of things.
But this is not a problem, I will improve my knowledge with time.
My main problem now is that I bought myself a new computer (described at
the end of this e-mail) and I was
