R 2.5.0 packages for Debian stable/etch
Dear list, R 2.5.0 packages for Debian stable (i386 and amd64) are now available from CRAN. The new recommended codetools and rcompgen packages haven't completely made it to Debian yet, but can of course be installed in the standard non-Debian ways. Please consult the README file in the Debian directory, and report problems to me directly or to this list. Best regards, Johannes Ranke --

R CMD javareconf in r-base-dev 2.6.0
Hi Dirk, hi list, I just ran into a slight problem while building the recommended packages for CRAN in a chroot environment against the fresh backport of your R 2.6.0 packages. It seems that R CMD javareconf wants to change files in /etc/R during the build, and since I am not building the packages as root in my etch chroot, this fails, even if I am using fakeroot. My workaround was to simply

(PR#8877) predict.lm does not have a weights argument for newdata
Dear R developers, I am a little disappointed that my bug report only made it to the wishlist, with the argument: Well, it does not say it has. Only relevant to prediction intervals. predict.lm does calculate prediction intervals for linear models from weighted regression, so they should be correct, right? As far as I can see they are bound to be wrong in almost all cases, if no weights

R 2.8.0 for Debian etch
Dear all, It is my pleasure to announce the immediate availability of R 2.8.0 for the current Debian stable release on CRAN. Source packages and binaries for i386 and amd64 are at your disposal. I also updated the README to include a short howto for using R 2.8.0 from unstable on testing (lenny), which is currently frozen. This currently pulls the current pcre from unstable, next to the current

I am more than 'a little disappointed' that you expect a detailed explanation of the problems with your 'bug' report, especially as you did not provide any explanation yourself as to your reasoning (nor did you provide any credentials nor references). Note that 1) Your report did not make clear that this was only relevant to prediction intervals, which are not commonly used.

Hello Griera, sorry, I forgot an "svn add", so the package got lost on the way. It is on chem now, and will migrate to CRAN shortly. Johannes Am Montag, 25. rkward_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_amd64.deb missing
Hello Johannes: I'm sorry, but I still have the same problem with Rkward. After running apt-get update, I still can not find the amd64 version of the Rkward package. I have tried it with the following sources: deb http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian stretch-cran34/ deb http://chem.uft.uni-bremen.de/ranke/r-cran stretch-cran34/ deb

rkward_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_amd64.deb missing
Hi Johannes: Thank you very much. Rkward now works. The only drawback is that I had to install it "by hand": sudo dpkg -i rkward_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_amd64.deb rkward-data_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_all.deb By default, apt-get installed the Debian repository version (rkward 0.6.5-1+b1 0.6.5-1+b1). Thanks for your contributions to the R-Debian project! Regards. Griera. On Mon, 25

apt-get update: GPG error from cran.R-project.org
I recently was forced to do a dist-upgrade and rebuild my kernel, so a lot has changed on my system, and I don't know if that is related to the errors & warnings I get from apt-get update. Any ideas? thanks -Michael euclid:~# apt-get update Get: 1 http://debian.yorku.ca stable Release.gpg [378B] Get: 2 http://debian.yorku.ca stable/updates Release.gpg [189B] Get: 3

R 2.6.1
R 2.6.1 is on its way to Debian unstable. I removed the references to gcc-4.2, so backporting should be easier. One thing I lfet in was the shlibs.local which will make R depend on tk8.4 newer than what testing and Ubuntu have, so Johannes and Vincent may need to remove the file. Debian testing users cannot run the unstable binaries as libc6 is ahead on unstable. We'll have to wait for libc6,

gplot heatmaps: clustering according to rowsidecolors + key.xtickfun
Hi there, I have two questions about heatmap.2 in gplot. My input is a simple square matrix with numeric values between 75 and 100 (it is a similarity matrix based on bacterial DNA sequences). 1. I can sort my input matrix into categories with rowsidecolors (in this case, very conveniently by bacterial taxa). I do a clustering and reordering of my matrix by Rowv=TRUE (and

OK, thanks both. I'll try that. I suspect (very strongly) that it comes from the fact that I did not replace the cran mirror line by an actulal cran mirror URLs... I will give a look at all my backports this weekend and do a little cleaning too! thanks,   David Biau.   ################################# From: Johannes Ranke <jranke@uni-bremen.de> To: r-sig-debian@r-project.org

I needed to upgrade to R 2.4.1 from debian stable maintained at http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian/. and tried to upgrade with apt-get install r-base. It installed R 2.4.1 successfully, but ran into errors while also upgrading r-recommended packages.
