Greetings,
I have a computer with the following setup:
1)cblfs (pure 64-bit (amd64) linux), kernel2.6.34 gcc4.4.2
2)R-2.11.1
I compiled R with BLAS and lapack using the switched ( --with-blas="-
lpthread -latlas -lfptf77blas"
--with-lapack="-llapack -lcblas" ).

KernSmooth not loading in R 2.7.2
I just upgraded to R 2.7.2 (from 2.7.1) this morning (Ubuntu amd64
platform). Shortly afterwards, I ran into a problem loading the odesolve
library, it could not find libRblas.so. I was able to fix this by
rebuilding odesolve. Now, KernSmooth gives me the same problem...

RMySQL installed but not availalable
I don't use MySQL but I have seen messages like this before. They often have replies which indicate that you need to follow the instructions more closely. I suggest you search the list for these previous posts as I'm sure there is help there, somewhere!

R CMD build error during vignettes build
Hello,
I'm trying to rebuild a package (using R version 3.3.2 (2016-10-31))
that has not seen any changes since it was last built without problems
in previous R versions. It fails during vignette building with:

Trying to install R on Lucid Lynx
Hi:
I installed Lucid Lynx amd64 on my system today, dual booted with Win 7.
I've managed to install several packages through the Ubuntu Software
Center with success and also installed texlive. Alas, installing my favorite
software has not been so joyful. I went through the last few months
of posts in this group to find something similar, but to no avail.
After a couple of false starts, I

/usr/lib/R/library vs /usr/local/lib/R/site-library
I would appreciate getting a clarification of /usr/lib/R/library vs /usr/local/lib/R/site-library. I am running R 1.8 on Debian Linux. On one occasion doing update.packages() resulted in versions of one or more libraries being placed in one of these directories without removing the old version, and the old version took precedence over the new. I'm sorry I did not save the steps I used. I

read.spss {foreign} doesn't work over network?
I'm unable to open an SPSS file over my network. If I copy it to my
local C:/ drive I can read it. I saved the command (in a "crib sheet"
text file) in order to avoid all the typing, so I'm pretty sure I've
done it before. I verified that the file I'm trying to read is OK.

Partial update of r packages possible?
Hello
I'm on Ubuntu 8.04 but I added in my source list some local mirror so I
have possibility to upgrade to R 2.8. However, it seems that there is a
dependency problem, (should install some liblapack libraries). This is
not the problem, I can keep R 2.7.
However, even if I'm not able to install R 2.8, the other packages:
-r-base-html
-r-base-doc
-r-doc-info
-r-doc-html
-r-doc-pdf

I needed to upgrade to R 2.4.1 from debian stable maintained at
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian/.
and tried to upgrade with apt-get install r-base. It installed R 2.4.1
successfully,
but ran into errors while also upgrading r-recommended packages. I was
able to
fix that using apt-get install -f

Upgrading R packages on Etch
Greetings,
I've been trying to upgrade R packages on my Debian Etch

with as they occur).
When I did, just now:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
I got:

debian packages and html help on linux
I have a fresh installation of R from debian unstable packages. The
html index found in /usr/lib/R/doc/html/index.html works in Mozilla
and under the link of 'packages' on this page I have a list and
corresponding links. However, it appears that not all packages I have
installed from available deb files via apt-get, will get their link
updated to this package index. Specifically, from

Next release of R, August 31st
I'm trying to make a habit of announcing upcoming releases on r-devel,
to give package maintainers a chance of staying in sync, and to
encourage everyone to report bugs in the prerelease versions.
So: R-1.3.1 is scheduled for release on August 31st. In order to be
able to get a solid round of testing on different platforms,
maintainers of the group of recommended packages are requested to

bug on compilation (PR#11395)
Dear Mr.
Beginning to work on Linux.
I am trying to install R into Ubuntu Gustsy. I installed version 2.5.1 and worked fine. But then I tried to upgrade by adding these lines to sources.list:
deb http://cran.fiocruz.br/bin/linux/debian etch-cran/
deb http://cran.fiocruz.br/bin/linux/ubuntu gutsy/
I introduced the authorization keys (as recommended) and the files were downloaded. But then I
