Problem printing from NT to printer attached to LInux box
I installed Samba 2.2.2 on my Linux box. The smb.conf file is as shown
below. The permission on /var/spool/lpd/lp is set to 755; ie, it is
writable only by the owner, which is lp. With the setup as is, when I
try to print from the NT machine, the smb log on the Linux box
indicates the following error: " print_job_start: insufficient
permissions to open spool file /var/spool/lpd/lp".

Odd "sweep" error on older code
I''ve got a Rails project that has been on the shelf for a few months,
and I''m picking it back up. I''ve frozen Rails at 1.1.4 in vendor/,
and did the "rails ." and "rake rails:update" to get it up to a
current Rails level.
The code initially seems to be working fine, but when I go to my
login method, I get a 500 error thrown. Looking in the

more selinux problems ...
Hi,
how do I allow lighttpd access to a directory like this:
dr-xrwxr-x. lighttpd example unconfined_u:object_r:samba_share_t:s0 files_articles
I tried to create and install a selinux module, and it didn?t work.
The non-working module can not be removed, either:
semodule -r lighttpd-files_articles.pp

Google maps api in ruby/rails
I''ve been looking for any modules/tools that are available for using
the google maps api in rails. I found a couple of quick examples, but
not much more. If anyone knows of good sites that cover using google
maps api in rails please post it here:)

"User not authorized to connect from this station"
Hello,
I'm running the newest version of Samba on an Irix 6.4 server.
One of our NT clients is having a problem. When the user tries to access
the server (Start-->Run-->"\\SERVER"), the username/password field comes
up. When that user puts in his valid username/password, and error pops up
that says "User not authorized to connect from this station."

Please check link for R-patched.tar.gz
I have been trying to build R-patched from source using the link
ftp://ftp.stat.math.ethz.ch/Software/R/R-patched.tar.gz
Which the file list says is linked to R-patched_2013-05-01.tar.gz but what
I download by both wget and curl (with -R -O --ssl ) is dated 2013-04-23
and builds to an old patch level.... It could be some hidden cache on my
side (I've tried finding and removing) but I think

Resizing partitions using OCFS?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
We're getting ready to start work with Oracle 9iRAC on Red Hat Advanced Server
2.1. One thing I'm curious about, that I haven't found an answer for in the
docs, is how to handle partition resizing with OCFS.
We have found on our Oracle 8i/Solaris systems that we have the need on
occasion to expand partitions to make room for more

Changing SWAT user?
I just loaded Mandrake 7.1 and Samba with Webmin. I can get into Webmin
and make changes to the Samba server, but I'm not able to get smbd or
nmbd running. When I try to get into SWAT to make changes it keeps
reverting back to my login which does not allow me to make changes. Is
there a way to reset this?
Also, any ideas on why smdb and smdb is not running?

[libvirt] Creating a storage volume for raw format file
Hi
I'm trying to create a volume in an existing storage pool using python
by calling createXML() on the pool object.
If the file that is the subject of the new volume exists you get and
error, also if it doesn't exist
I worked out that specifying
<source>
<path>path to copy of file</path>
</source>
works, seemingly by copying the 'source' file to

Using by() and stacking back sub-data frames to one data frame
Dear all,
I have a code where I subset a data frame to match entries within
levels of an factor (actually, the full script uses three difference
factors do do that). I'm very happy with the precision with which I can
work with R, but since I loop over factor levels, and the data frame is
big, the process is slow. So I've been trying to speed up the process
using by(), but I got stuck at
