How do I see that a xVM is running as paravirtualized
I have followed a combination of instructions from this post and have been able to get an Ubuntu paravirtualized instance running under snv_96. Is there a way to "list" the fact that it is paravirtualized? For example, xm list, virsh list, etc.
thanks

Cannot get second network interface working in Linux guest
Hi,
I''m running snv_89 on an X4150 with a CentOS-5 guest. I cannot seem to get my
second network interface to work properly. I followed the virt-install
instructions, and even saw the FAQ entry about adding a second network instance
in the XML config. I see my second device in the guest but it''s either
connected to the wrong interface or not at all.
I''d like to

xVM Ready for serious use ?
I currently have 2 x ESXi boxes that have VMs stored on a NFS/iSCSI debian lenny linux box. I had purchased a new whitebox server as an intended replacement for the linux box. I had always planned on installing opensolaris on the new hardware with this config;
2 x 640GB mirrored rpool
6 x 1TB in raidz2
This box was going to be built in parallel with the current server and I would have simply

How to configure default NIC when creating Guest
Hi All,
I have a machine with three network cards, and the third card(named
e1000g2) is in use now. I want to use e1000g2 as default NIC when I
create Guest. How can I change the default NIC? I can override the
default value of config/default-nic property of svc:/system/xvm/xend.
But xend still use e1000g0 when creating Guest.
BTW, I can explicitly set "bridge=e1000g2" when creating

How to auto-start and -stop xVM domains?
I''m trying to figure out what the CURRENT requirements are for
configuring the xVM domains to start at boot-time and stop on shutdown.
The closest to current I''ve seen is
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/docs/xVM_lowres.pdf
which does not address the problem, and

Configuring svc:/system/xvm/domains?
I''m running Xen on Nexenta Core, and I haven''t yet figured out how to
control which DomU''s are started with svcadm enable
svc:/system/xvm/domains:default.
virsh doesn''t seem to be available with Nexenta Core, so I''d rather edit
the configuration files by hand. However, I''ve found neither
OpenSolaris or Nexenta documentation on how this is

Query About Domain Configuration for Xen on Solaris 11 Build snv_77 i86pc
Hi All,
I have installed Solaris 11 Build snv_77 on x86 box. I have been facing
problem while working with Xen (xm command)...
I have installed guest domain/VM/OS(Solaris 11 Build snv_77) on x86 box,
using "virt-install" utility. After rebooting the host machine, my guest
domain has become inactive. I am not able to perform any task on guest
domain, including getting console. It

System Clock Offset in b129 dom0
Since upgrading to b129, I''ve noticed that my system clock is ahead by
five hours, exactly how much I am behind UTC (US Eastern Time). The
strange thing is it only happens when I have xen enabled. If I ''svcadm
disable milestone/xvm; reboot'' the clock is correct again. If I correct
the time manually, ntp knocks it right back ahead again. Oddly enough,
even ntp knows

how to configure ne2k emulation?
I''ve searched all night long on google, discussions, threads, and the xen wiki... but I can''t find how to do this:
vif = [''type=ioemu,mac=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX,model=ne2k_pci'']
where should I put this?
I have sxce94, dom0 works nicely, and domUs too, but I''d like to select ne2k for an hvm openbsd dom0 that I''ve created because I''ve read

Any idea on how to install a hvm on a remote system. -- unable to open display
Hi
I''m been trying to install an xvm instance on a remote system, but I
keep running into variations on ''unable to open display''
I''ve tried to use ssh -X but I''ve not been able to get it to forward
when su''d to root.
1) ssh -X -l xadmin virtbox
running cload etc works fine.

How are you getting your Vista and XP VMs to work?
I''m not having much luck getting either a Vista or XP VM up and running.
XP:
I''ve created an ISO from my WinXP SP 1a CD. The VM seems to be created fine. It boots then installs the OS. On the second setup boot after copying over the OS files, it brings up a box that says:
The file ''asms'' on WindowsXP Home Edition Service Pack 1 CD is needed.

Solaris 10 HVM on Intel VT?
Can I run 8/07 fully virtualised on an Intel VT CPU (with a Linux Dom0)?
I gave up on 11/06 because of real mode problems. If not, does anyone
have an estimate of when this might be possible, if at all?
Thanks -

ubuntu 11.10, system V runlevel compatability
I''m having a problem with the boot sequence hanging indefinitely at "stopping system V runlevel compatibility". Here are the steps I took to get to this point:
1) installed a single boot, server version of ubuntu 11.10 (intended to be dom0)
2) apt-get install xen-hypervisor-4.1-amd64 xen-utils-4.1 xenwatch xen-tools xen-utils-common xenstore-utils
3) updated grub as follows:

Solaris DomU HVM Network issues
Hi,
I''m running Nevada 75a configured as dom0. I added a domU HVM running
Nevada 75a, on a Sun X4600 with 8 ADM Dual cores. I can get the domU
installed and configured, however, I can not get any network
connectivity. I followed the steps accoding to documents on Open
Solaris. I also followed some of the threads of the list to verify the
configuration, but I can not fix the
