broadcast packets from domU duplicated?
I''m running a nevada b99 guest on a nevada b99 host. The guest is configured as a dhcp client. When I snoop in dom0 while the guest boots, I see two back-to-back DHCPREQUEST packets issued by the guest. The first of the two packets has an empty UDP checksum; otherwise they seem identical. Is this a bug? Fred Oliver ETHER: ----- Ether Header ----- ETHER: ETHER: Packet 246 arrived

Proxy ARP working from Internet but not from fw and loc
Hello everybody. I could not find an answer to my problem in the archive. (But that may just be me :-) ) I have a problem with proxy arp and connection from loc (localnet) and from the firewall. Works fine from internet to dmz / proxy arp and vise versa. I have a feeling the solution is simple, but I''m no guru in Linux routing etc. The problem seems to be the routing setup. loc -

arp who-has packets not seen in Dom0 even by tcpdump
Hi all, I''m running Xen-3.2 and linux-image-2.6.18 as Dom0 kernel on a VT-x processor. The problem is that broadcast arp who-has packets are not seen in Dom0 kernel. I''ve tried both precompiled debian kernel and compiled latest one from sources as described at http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2008-01/msg00699.html There is no linux bridge invoked,

proxy arp & gratuitous ARP reply
Hello, My apologies if this isn''t the right place to send questions about this thread. I have a couple one''s about proxy_arp and gratuitous arp reply frames. I have setup the proxy_arp parameter on a linux system (kernel 2.4.20). Now, when I start a M$-Windoze machine it complain about "...duplicated IP address...". This is a know behaviour, and the solution is

Race condition in sending gratuitous ARP for live migration ?
Hi, So, the issue is a fairly common one: Network doesn''t work for like a minute or so after a live migration. The setup is a debian wheezy dom0 with xen 4.1.2 running 3.6.11 kernel. The domU is a Ubuntu 12.04 with a 3.2 kernel. The networking setup uses bridges on the dom0. I also made sure that the bridge forwarding delay is set to 0. The VM doesn''t initiate any network

HVM migration and gratuitous ARP
Hello, I have tested Xen live migration with HVM guests on xen 3.4.3 and 4.1.2. In both cases, the guest migrated successfully but ping from outside failed due to layer2 address-table not being updated on switch. Once the guests initiates network traffic, then pings from outside work. I''ve searched Xen mailing lists and wiki and haven''t found any definitive information about

Gratuitous/unsolicited ARP
hi. for domain migration, this is an obvious procedure in order to announce the relocation of the guest being bridged on a different host. i''ve been grepping around the xen build tree to see whether and where this is covered. haven''t found anything yet. is this covered by linux kernel bridging already, or is it just missing [read: left as a scripting exercise to

How to remove dead peer, osrry urgent again :(
Since my node died on friday I have a dead peer (vna) that needs to be removed. I had major issues this morning that I haven't resolve yet with all VM's going offline when I rebooted a node which I *hope * was due to quorum issues as I now have four peers in the cluster, one dead, three live. Confidence level is not high. -- Lindsay Mathieson

Request for code review: the brendan() action
This came up as an RFE during the conference (I believe it''s been logged as "4012008: brendan() action needed for DTrace Toolkit".) As everyone here is aware, DTrace is not quite as user friendly as it could be. For the uninitiated, it can be confusing to run a DTrace script and not see the expected output. Brendan Gregg has addressed this in the DTrace Toolkit[1] by

[zfs] portable zfs send streams (preview webrev)
We have finished a beta version of the feature. A webrev for it can be found here: http://cr.illumos.org/~webrev/sensille/fits-send/ It adds a command ''zfs fits-send''. The resulting streams can currently only be received on btrfs, but more receivers will follow. It would be great if anyone interested could give it some testing and/or review. If there are no objections,

booting from ashift=12 pool..
.. evidently doesn''t work. GRUB reboots the machine moments after loading stage2, and doesn''t recognise the fstype when examining the disk loaded from an alernate source. This is with SX-151. Here''s hoping a future version (with grub2?) resolves this, as well as lets us boot from raidz. Just a note for the archives in case it helps someone else get back the afternoon

[Fwd: [networking-discuss] code-review: fine-grained privileges for datalink administration]
Crossbow team, The following is of interest to the Crossbow project. Since a large chunk of these changes also exist in the Crossbow gate, the delivery of this wad will result in fewer lines of changes for Crossbow''s delivery. If someone on Crossbow could participate in this review, that would be a bonus (Eric Cheng made original changes in the Crossbow gate at some point last year).

No connection in DomUs with network-route
Hi, I would like to know if somebody can point me out how to configure several DomUs in a private LAN (for example 192.168.100.0/24) and one DomU with two interfaces (one - 192.168.100.0/24 and two - internet). So far I have enabled in xend-config.sxp: (network-script network-route) (vif-script vif-route) My config files have: /mnt/VM/1.cfg:vif = [''ip=192.168.1.3'']

sapply and loop
Dear all, I am doing 200 times simulation. For each time, I generate a matrix and define some function on this matrix to get a 6 dimension vector as my results. As the loop should be slow, I generate 200 matrice first, and save them into a list named ma, then I define zz<-sapply(ma, myfunction) To my surprise, It almost costs me the same time to get my results if I directly use a loop
