zfs send and recordsize
Hi Everyone, I perform a snapshot and a zfs send on a filesystem with a recordsize of 16k, and redirect the output to a plain file. Later, I use cat sentfs | zfs receive otherpool/filesystem. In this case the new filesystem''s recordsize will be the default 128k again. The other filesystem attributes (for example atime) are reverted to defaults too. Okay, I can set these later,

x86_64 Fedora Core 8 Xen source build fails - help!
I''ve updated a Fedora 8 kernel to 2.6.24.3-34.fc8 and am trying to put Xen into it from the Xen 3.2.0 source tarball. Eventual destination is an OpenSolaris box running x86_64 OpenSolaris 10. However, "make world" fails in the xen-3.2.0 directory. It seems to be searching for something called "linux-2.6.18-xen.hg". Linux 2.6.18 has nothing to do with it, so

dom0 using only a single CPU (networking)
Hello, I''m using a server with 10Gbps network interfaces and 4 CPUs, running several domUs. The problem is that in this setup, with high network load, dom0 turns out to be the bottleneck, using only a single CPU which is saturated and 100%. So the network speed is bounded to much less than 10Gbps. How could I make dom0 use more CPUs in parallel ? I checked my VCPU setup; i have 4 VCPUs

acts_as_tree and traversing parent/child relationships

mysterious crash of a particular worker
Hi, I am using the latest checkout from backgroundrb release 1.0.1. I have a worker called status_checker that periodically (every minute) checks the status of certain hosts over the network. It works fine at the beginning but after a while the worker will mysteriously disappear and stop working. I have other workers running but they do not disappear like this worker does. These are

Sending SMS from Asterisk
Hi: Say I want to build an IVR application which sends an SMS message to a mobile telephone when the caller responds to a prompt in certain way. I think I can manage the part about generating the message and building something to actually send it. The part I'm foggy about is: how would I actually get the SMS message to the carrier? Discussions with the carrier have led absolutely nowhere

Is it feasible to cross-build compat5x binary?
Hi folks, I think we need to update compat5x binary to fix FreeBSD-SA-05:21.openssl, but will the binaries built by ``make universe'' be identical with actual build on Alpha, Sparc64, etc? (Yes, I'm volunteering to do the work iff they are identical ;-) Cheers, -- Xin LI <delphij frontfree net> http://www.delphij.net/ See complete headers for GPG key and other information.

ActiveRecord: manually setting :id
Hey everyone, I''m having a problem with ActiveRecord (outside of Rails) where it doesn''t allow me to set the value of the :id column. Since you''re probably not normally supposed to fiddle with the primary key, I''m guessing that this isn''t a bug, but is intentional. Is there any way to override it? The reason I need this is that I''m making a

ZFS Web administration interface
I don''t seem to have access to the web administration interface. It worked fine up to svn_B37, but B38 and B39 don''t appear to have it deployed. I can start the web console server "/usr/sbin/smcwebserver start" and log in as root but ZFS does not appear in the list of applications. Is there something additional I need to do? Mongrel install problem
Hi, I''m having difficulties getting mongrel running on my Debian Etch machine. It seems to install and is listed with my other gems, but things like... "mongrel_rails start ..." ... are not recognised. Perhaps this is something to do with the file "lib" not being found in the install process: ruby extconf.rb install mongrel --include-dependencies checking for main()
