snv 77 W2003 domu loses config on reboot/shutdown
Hi All, I successfully installed a 32bit W2003 domu using the following config file (as the CD image wasn''t persistent between reboots, otherwise I would have used virt-install ;-) ) : isk = [ ''file:/images/xvm/w2003/w2003-disk.raw,hdc,w'',''file:/images/isos/en_win_srv_2003_r2_enterprise_cd1. iso,hda:cdrom,r'' ] memory = 512 name = "w2003"

troubleshooting help
Hi, I've installed Samba and started up the processes; however, I do not see the Samba server in Network Neighborhood. In using the DIAGNOSIS.txt file, I cannot get past test 3: ./smbclient -U% -L localhost. The output is as follows: added interface ip=140.188.120.55 bcast=140.188.120.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 session setup failed: Call returned zero bytes (EOF) Any insight into this

Likelihood ration test on glm
I would like to try a likelihood ratio test in place of waldtest. Ideally I'd like to provide two glm models, the second a submodel of the first, in the style of lrt (http://www.pik-potsdam.de/~hrust/tools/farismahelp/lrt.html). [lrt takes farimsa objects] Does anyone know of such a likelihood ratio test? Chris Elsaesser, PhD Principal Scientist, Machine Learning SPADAC Inc. 7921

Lisp-like primitives in R
I mainly program in Common Lisp and use R for statistical analysis. While in R I miss the power and ease of use of Lisp, especially its many primitives such as find, member, cond, and (perhaps a bridge too far) loop. Has anyone created a package that includes R analogs to a subset of Lisp functions? Chris Elsaesser, PhD Principal Scientist, Machine Learning SPADAC Inc. 7921 Jones

Modified Sims test
Does anyone know of a package that includes the Modified Sims test [Gewerke, 1983, Sims, 1972]? This test is used in econometrics and is a kind of alternative to the Granger test [Granger, 1969], which is in the package lmtest. Thanks in advance, chris Refernces: Gewerke, J., R. Meese, and W. scrub on snv-b107
scrub completed after 1h9m with 0 errors on Tue Feb 17 12:09:31 2009 This is about twice as slow as the same srub on a solaris 10 box with a mirrored zfs root pool. Has scrub become that much slower? rsync not prompting for username, only password
Hi guys, can anyone suggest why, when I connect to my rsync server, I'm not prompted for a username and password but instead I'm only prompted for a password? I have "auth users = username" set in /etc/rsyncd.conf and a corresponding entry in /etc/rsyncd.secrets but still rsync only asks for a password. using lm() with variable formula
New to R; please excuse me if this is a dumb question. I tried to RTFM; didn't help. I want to do a series of regressions over the columns in a data.frame, systematically varying the response variable and the the terms; and not necessarily including all the non-response columns. In my case, the columns are time series. I don't know if that makes a difference; it does mean I have to call

strange password problem with rsync
Hi guys, I am experiencing a very strange problem with passwords and username with rsync. I have a "auth users" line in my /etc/rsyncd.conf file (see below) and a corresponding username and password in my /etc/rsyncd.secrets. The strange thing is is that authentication for the module listed in /etc/rsyncd.conf (unixadm) only works IF the username in /etc/rsyncd.secrets is the same as

rsyncing read-only files
Hi guys, I have a simple question regarding using rsync when one has read-only files on the src machine. My situation is the following: I have two machines, call then A and B. I'm using rsync on B to download from A (I'm running rsync in daemon mode on A from inetd.conf). The rsyncing on B works fine except for one problem: when I run rsync on B to do the downloading from A, I get

Unresponsive nodes with no pending task in the dashboard
Hi, Since this morning all nodes are showing as unresponsive. I have faced a similar error before and the problem was fixed restarting the dashboard-workers as there were many pending task in the puppet dashboard. I am using Puppet Enterprise 2.7.1 version. I have already checked/done: * Restarted the puppetmaster server * Check that puppet-dashboard-workers are working * Time is synced

strange strsplit gsub problem 0 is this a bug or a string length limitation?
I was working with the rmetrics portfolioBacktesting function and dug into the code to try to find why my formula with 113 items, i.e. A1 thru A113, was being truncated and I only get 85 items, not 113. Is it due to a string length limitation in R or is it a bug in the strsplit or gsub functions, or in my string? I'd very much appreciate any suggestions ============Input script:

long character string problem
Hi All I am having 2 very long character strings (550chars) and I want to put them as expressions together with c(). The problem is that I also get these double-quotes, as seen below in 'fct'. How can I remove these double-quotes? I tried as.name() but it did not work (because of size?). These are creating trouble with subsequent programs, which I tested with strings that for some

Users with changed passwords can connect locally, but not remotely
Hi. I've just run into a very strange problem with a Samba server. I'm running version 3.0.2a, which came with Yellow Dog Linux (a Mac that originally ran OS X server, but that I like better with Samba). I migrated a complete Samba configuration from an old server, including the entire /etc/samba directory and all user accounts, making sure that the UIDs all matched (and, while

Users with changed passwords can't log on remotely (but can locally)
(I submitted this last week, but hopefully someone who knows the intricacies of secrets.tdb and machine migrations will read this ...) I migrated a complete Samba configuration from an old server to a new one, including the entire /etc/samba directory and all user accounts. At first, no clients were aware that anything had changed. But when I changed the passwords of two users they suddenly

Samba 2.0.7 poor performance
Recently I shutdown my RS6000 running AIX 4.3.3 and Samba 2.0.7 and rebooted. Since rebooting, the performance of the Samba server has dramatically decreased. Nothing has changed on the AIX box. I recently added a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 to the network. I thought that may be the culprit. I shutdown that server for a few days and the problem still exists. Any help would be much
