VMGL?
Has anyone gotten this working? It seems it is a toolkit to allow guest OSes
to have native speed OpenGL rendering. It might it be a good inclusion for
Indiana. (To enable people to test it out in a VM.)

Solaris 10 domU under OpenSolaris dom0
Sorry if this was answered before. It''s hard to figure out what keywords to use in order to narrow the search.
I''m looking into running Solaris 10 as a guest under an OpenSolaris dom0 host. Is this feasible, and if so, can someone point me to the best "howto" to reduce the frustration level? Otherwise, is there a better host OS to do this under?
Thanks,

Re: [brandz-discuss] Re: BrandZ, Xen and Chime for Solaris 10 U3 ?
Xen will not be in update 4. We are pushing towards integrating into
Nevada sometime this summer.
We''re actively working on getting another release out to OpenSolaris. I
have my latest attempt at building an ISO image spinning in another window
right now.
This new release will be based on Nevada build 66. It''s been a
ridiculously long time since our last release, and I

Q. virsh shutdown for a Solaris HVM guest domain
Hi,
I''ve installed Solaris 10 u4 as a hardware virtual machine guest
domain on SXDE 1/08 (aka Nevada b79b) which was fine, i.e. after the
virt-install the domain was fine. However when I went to shutdown the
domain I issued "virsh shutdown solarisHVM" which appeared to
immediately terminate the guest domain. Note, I also have a
paravirtualized domain

Running Xen/xVM with an EAL-certified Solaris
Hello All,
I''m investigating the possibility of running an EAL-certified Solaris as
a dom0 and domU on Xen or xVM. The rationale of running Solaris in
dom0 is for security features, such as the features provided by the
Controlled Access Protection Profile. So far it seems like a Solaris
HVM is ideal for each domU in my current scenario, due to the ability
for labeling via trusted

Solaris cluster express install on opensolaris that isn''t a developer
Apologies for spamming this thread, I''ve currently built xen domU''s using 66/77 release of open solaris community release. However both of these versions don''t work with cluster express for one reason or another looking at the release notes it suggests 09/07 (A developer release 70b) or using an older version of cluster express it suggests (68b).
The problem is that

Deploying Solaris on Xen via jumpstart
Hi everybody,
Today I tried the latest Solaris on Xen build.
I downlaoded all files and created the iso.
Then I wanted to run setup_install_server , but this failed:
bash-3.00# ./setup_install_server /export/sol_xen/
-bash: ./setup_install_server: cannot execute binary file
-bash-3.00#
So I create a tar file to copy over all files to export/sol_xen/
Then I tried to start and install via

Some errors in the blogentry with instructions on how to install Xvnc on Solaris
Hi,
I created my first Xen DomU running Solaris today using the instructions
from this page Creating Solaris domU virtual disk images at
OpenSolaris.org
<http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/How-To-07-2006/Solaris-domU/>
and it works out of the box!
That''s cool again!
If you''re going to do the same (and I encourage you to do so!) be aware
that it takes a

Migration of solaris instances
Can I use
xm save <dom> <file>
Copy this file to another xen enabled machine and
xm restore <file>
where the <dom> is running solaris.
If yes, what would that give me ?
Will it start all processes from where they were frozen at the time of save ?
thanks

Linux Dom0 <-> Solaris prepared Volume
Hi all
heve been trying (in vain) to get a Solaris b44 DomU (dowloaded from
Sun) running on a Linux Xenhost
I followed exactly how, and it looked ok when it starts booting...
But it never boots .
adapted the configfile to boot with -v (that I can see at least
something) and this is what I get
===SNIP===

Solaris 10 FW/IPF in a Open Solaris dom/U?
I''m wondering if Open Solaris + xVM will allow me to do the following:
I currently have 2 Solaris 10 servers sucking down electrons that I would
like to consolidate into 2 xVM instances on a Solaris 11 quad core box.
This is what it looks like:
Internet --->A sol 10 FW/Web B>---->C Sol 10 app/mail D---> local LAN
So interface A is connected to the Internet. The FW/Web box

getting started with Xen && Solaris X86
Hello,
I have been a lurker on this list for some time, and have just purchased
an Ultra 20 config 3 system, for among other things, coming up to speed
with Xen.
I have archived a lot of good notes and URL''s from the list, and I see
that there are many HOWTO''s, both from the opensolaris.org web site, and
many write ups by individuals.
To get to the point, I am not intent

is putting zone paths on zfs supported in Solaris 10 u5/u6 ?? Documentation on that? - 66124245
ZFS experts!
cu is looking for _documentation_ about putting zone paths on zfs. cu
is running 5.10 KP 137111-06. he needs to make sure u5 kp is ok with
zone roots. Also has FSs mounted via legacy.
So...anybody have documentation on which u5 or u6 of Solaris (NOT
OpenSolaris) supports zfs, if any update, for zone paths?

B98 Solaris DomU on B98 Solaris Dom0 - installer not finding disks
Greetings,
I have a problem that is baffling me. My host machine is an older Dual Xeon machine that does not support HVM - PAE is supported.
I have 2008.11 b98 installed as Dom0. I''m trying to install the same as a DomU.
In the DomU, I''m starting the ssh service, logging in with X forwarding and starting the gui with:
(dom1) jack$ pfexec gui-install
The gui displays on my

Open Solaris on Sparc Virtual Server Options
Hello Everyone,
My question is simply what are my best options for successfully installing virtual tools on an Open Solaris OS running on Sparc Architecture. My hardware is a
Sun Blade 2500. From what I have read Virtualbox and Xen do not work on Sparc
technologies. What options do I have?
Thank you in advance for any advice,
Dan

DNS resolutions is not working in a Solaris 10 DomU
Hi,
I found a problem with the DNS resolution in a Solaris 10 DomU.
The Test Environment was:
I installed the Xen bfu on top of Solaris snv43 and booted the Dom0 with
Solaris. Then I installed and booted a Solaris 10 DomU.
In the Solaris 10 Dom0 the DNS resolution works; in the Solaris 10 DomU
the DNS resolution does not work as expected:
Inside the Solaris 10 DomU I can''t use
