Failed to create a solaris DOMU using NFS root
Hello, I''ve installed a OpenSolaris dom0 snv_44 on a x4100 server, and booted a 32-bit xen kernel. I''m trying to create a OpenSolaris DOMU (snv_44) by following the howto described at http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/howto/create-osox-domu/. I did not manage to create a diskless environment by using SUNWCXall. I''ve created SUNWCreq instead and add the

installing a pseudo driver in a Solaris DOM U and DOM U reboot
Hello, on a v20z, we have as DOM 0 a Solaris XEN on snv44 64bits and we have as DOM U a Solaris XEN on snv44 64 bits. We then install a pseudo driver in the Solaris DOM 1 XEN snv44: installation is ok and driver works as expected. But on reboot of DOM 1, the driver is no more there (in modinfo, driver not found). Is there something special to do after a pseudo driver installation in a Solaris

getting opensolaris b85 domU to start
Folks: I am unable to get my opensolaris sn-b85 domU to start up in an opensolaris sn-b85 dom0. I am booted to xvm. Other systems, such as Fedora 8, WinXP Pro, W2k3 server, W2k8 server and Windows Vista startup normally. I have used the following to build the domU: # mkfile -n 25g /solhvm/solhvm.img # ls -l /solhvm total 269 -rw------T 1 root root 26843545600 Jul 7 10:37 solhvm.img

Issue with adding existing EFI disks to a zpool
I spend yesterday all day evading my data of one of the Windows disks, so that I can add it to the pool. Using mount-ntfs, it''s a pain due to its slowness. But once I finished, I thought "Cool, let''s do it". So I added the disk using the zero slice notation (c0d0s0), as suggested for performance reasons. I checked the pool status and noticed however that the pool size

hot spare not so hot ??
I have configured a test system with a mirrored rpool and one hot spare. I powered the systems off, pulled one of the disks from rpool to simulate a hardware failure. The hot spare is not activating automatically. Is there something more i should have done to make this work ? pool: rpool state: DEGRADED status: One or more devices could not be opened. Linux Dom0 <-> Solaris prepared Volume
Hi all heve been trying (in vain) to get a Solaris b44 DomU (dowloaded from Sun) running on a Linux Xenhost I followed exactly how, and it looked ok when it starts booting... But it never boots . adapted the configfile to boot with -v (that I can see at least something) and this is what I get ===SNIP=== root@Xen-VT02:/export/xc/xvm/solaris-b44# xm create solaris-b44-64.py -c Using config

Adding a higher level partition to ZFS pool
Hi all, I would like to add a new partition to my ZFS pool but it looks like it''s more stricky than expected. The layout of my disk is the following: - first partition for Windows. I want to keep it. (no formatting !) - second partition for OpenSolaris. This is where I have all the Solaris slices (c0d0s0 etc). I have a single ZFS pool. OpenSolaris boots on ZFS. - third partition: a FAT

Error 16: Inconsistent filesystem structure after a change in the system
I''ve hit this bug on my home machine couple of times and finally decided to log it since I''ve spend 2 days configuring my "OpenSolaris 2008.11 snv_101b_rc2 X86" and after installing the SUNWsmbfskr package I ended up in the grub> menu. The package contains a necessary module for CIFS. After pkg install SUNWsmbfskr, I rebooted the box. There was no grub menu anymore

domU for Xen3.0.2-2 Linux ( Knoppix, Xenoppix )
Hi all, I have a plan to make and distribute Solaris domU image. This image should be use at Knoppix or Xenoppix ( http:// unit.aist.go.jp/itri/knoppix/xen/ ), for new users trial for Solaris. I build my xen image by How To Guide - August 2006, and I have tested the image on solaris dom0 and linux (Fedora Core 5) dom0. It work very well. confused about zpool import -f and export
Hi, all, I think I''m missing a concept with import and export. I''m working on installing a Nexenta b134 system under Xen, and I have to run the installer under hvm mode, then I''m trying to get it back up under pv mode. In that process the controller names change, and that''s where I''m getting tripped up. I do a successful install, then I boot OK,
