Dom0 crash at 40Mbps Iperf traffic with only 80% CPU utilization ??
Hello I have a 3 node experiment as detailed below to estimate the bridged networking performance in para-virtualized Xen 3.0 on Emulab (https://www.emulab.net/) Here is how the 3-node topology looks (This topology is specified by means of an NS-2 file) topology: _______________________________ | | Node0:eth0 ------|Node1:eth0

I installed tfpt-hpa
Hi... I''m interested to find out how many people are running tftp-hpa versus atftpd. I''m almost a bit surprised in how many people seem to be using tftp-hpa; for modern Unix systems (including Linux), I would in general assume atftpd to be a better choice. If you have tried both and specifically chosen (as opposed to "it was already installed", etc.) I''d

PFIM 3.2
Dear R-user, I'm having some difficulty with working PFIM 3.2, a package for implementing population PK/PD in R. I wish to evaluate the determinant of Fisher information matrix each time with successive dose from a pre defined sequence of doses and want to store those values in a vector. It's important to note that in my 'stdin.r' file, dose<-c(u) and each time u is to be

Context: launching FreeBSD "pxeboot" from PXELINUX is the Very L ast Bug.
Hello... Last week I demonstrated a problem with PXELINUX's ability to launch the FreeBSD "pxeboot" program. Mr. Anvin suggests that this can be fixed. I'm glad, because this PXELINUX/pxeboot problem is the very last technical issue for a project on which I've been working since September. My company has a proprietary disk-imaging system that they would like to replace.

900# DID?
Here's a question I haven't seen asked nor answered on this list: Is there a provider who offers incoming 900# services? I want to establish a 900# to be used in (about 60-70) domain registrations, to deter telemarketers from calling yet still comply with ICANN requirements for a valid phone number. Alternatively, does anyone know of a source for super-low cost DIDs (like free

Xen4CentOS: Unnecessary gpxe / ipxe obsoletes
I installed CentOS6 with the xen4centos set of packages; then I tried to install KVM (for performance comparison), I got the following error in YUM: --> Processing Dependency: /usr/share/gpxe/e1000-0x100e.rom for package: 2:qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.415.el6_5.4.x86_64 Package gpxe-roms-qemu is obsoleted by ipxe-roms-qemu, but obsoleting package does not provide for requirements I manually

Request for added functionality - tracking and blocking attacks
Somebody please forward this, if this is not an appropiate place to ask the OpenSSH developers for a new feature. As many of us have seen, any sshd left open on the internet eventually becomes the target of password guessing attacks. I am aware of tools for scanning the security logs, and manipulating iptables to block ongoing attacks, but I am not aware of a way to configure sshd itself to

ssh-agent security
ssh-agent is a great tool that is often misconfigured with respect to agent forwarding. How many people running ssh-agent and doing a ssh -A have the very same public keys in ~/.ssh/authorized_keys of the machine they are coming from? ssh(1) is very clear in its warning about enabling agent forwarding. The simple act of prompting the user before using the key would enable them to determine

Apple patches 6-8
Here are a few more patches. Still keeping it easy for now. Again the basis for these patches is dovecot-1.1.7. Patch #6. Solve a cross-compilation endianness issue. Currently, Dovecot assumes that the endianness of the build system is the same as the endianness of the runtime system. This is not necessarily true. We ran into this while compiling for i386 on a ppc machine. The

S & R list virus warning
It appears that someone has harvested email addresses from the S-news or one of the R lists and is sending out viruses. The mail does not come from the lists, but appears to come from people on these lists. (Closer examination of the headers indicates that it does not really come from the person indicated in the "from" field.) The mail is probably directed to people on these lists as

Newbe Rails question on Apache.
Hello, I am new to Rails, like totally new. I am not new to application development having near 10 years experience with data mining and store front development with various Java web severs. I see a ton of power in Rails but I am slightly put off by what looks like a difficulty when running Rails apps under Apache. So I am posting a few prelimenary questions of getting Rails apps going

automagic blacklist
Hello list members, Over the past 12 hours my firewall box has had over 300 hits to port 1434 from numerous ip''s. I ran tcpdump on a couple of them and it looks like the ms-sql exploit attempt. I don''t use ms-sql. I''ve always gotten a few hits per day, but now it''s gotten out of control. I use logcheck to email the system logs to me and at this rate by the
