January Ruby events in the SF Bay Area
Bosco So has located a promising new venue for the SF Ruby Meetup:
There is WiFi access to the Internet as well as a large plasma
TV/monitor for presentations. In addition to offering caffeine
in various forms, they have sandwiches and desserts. Lastly,
there are lots of dining opportunities nearby for apres-event
chowing.

[LLVMdev] A few folks in the SF Bay area are planning to get together to discuss GC statepoints
Hi Chandler,
A few of us up here in Seattle would be interested, but we’re too cheap to buy plane tickets. Is it reasonable to set up a conference call? How the optimizer deals with statepoints is important to us.

[LLVMdev] A few folks in the SF Bay area are planning to get together to discuss GC statepoints
Specifically, I wanted to sit down with Sanjoy and Philip who have been
working on getting the current statepoint infrastructure sufficiently well
integrated with the optimizer to do early statepoint insertion, and discuss
what the path forward is here.
If anyone happens to be in the area and is interested in attending, please
let me know. Currently, I'm planning to host things up on

That might work. I'm actually particularly interested in your perspective
here, so even if it doesn't, I had already planned to specifically email
you to make sure I got your thoughts here.
But maybe a conference call would work. By far the easiest is for us to do
a Google hangout, which would give video and audio. Would that work on your
end?

[Patch] Improve portability of regression tests
Hello All.
As promised, here is what I needed to do to get the regression tests to
work on AIX & HPUX. It goes into a bit of detail in the hope that others
might be able to get them running on their platforms. I've run these
mods on AIX 4.3.3, HP-UX 11.00, Solaris 8, Redhat 7.3 and OpenBSD 3.0.
The problems I encountered:
* prereqs (pmake, md5sum)
* bad directory owner/mode causing auth

non-character search
I need to be able to search for certain symbol characters. For
example, I want the search for c++ to work. I try enclosing it in
quotes, but it seems to treat C and the pluses as two separate
characters to look for. Search for ++ alone seems to find documents
that don''t have any pluses in them. Why would that happen?
Thanks,
Carl

Submitted a patch, got pluses, what now?
Hello Rails people,
I submitted a patch recently to get rid of an annoying exception raised when
an AR
object is created - http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/10556 , had some
people review it,
got some pluses... What am I supposed to do now?
Can anybody advise or just review the patch and take care of the issue?
Thanks!

[LLVMdev] LLVM Bay-Area Social!
If you aren't going to be in the San Francisco bay-area a week from now,
you can stop reading this message.
It's time for another LLVM bay-area social gathering, which will be held one
week today on Wednesday, September 7th, starting 7pm at St. Stephen's Green
in Mountain View. They still have good food, lots of beer and are a short
walk away from the Mountain View Caltrain and VTA
