Sorting ferret results by column
I have the acts_as_ferret plugin installed. Everything searches great, but I would like to limit the results (i.e. by ''end_date'') and sort them (by ''end_date''). ''end_date'' is a valid column in my "posts" table. Here''s the code I have already: @posts = Post.find_by_contents(params[:query]) params[:query] comes from a form. I

[AAF] remote indexing via DRb with acts_as_ferret
Hi! Aaf trunk has undergone several major refactorings the last days, with the result that you can now transparently switch your app from local to remote indexing and back :-) If you plan to scale your app to more than one physical machine, or if you have problems with corrupted indexes and the like under high load, you really should give this a try. I wrote some documentation to get you

problems after gem update
Hi, I had ferret working wonderfully but i am regretting doing a gem update today. I had alot of trouble first installing it and was really happy to have it working. The upgrade was from 0.3.1 to 0.4.0. The problem is; in the rails console, >> @results = Book.find_by_contents("peter pan") => #<ActsAsFerret::SearchResults:0x487040c @total_hits=0, @results=[]> Its indexing

Ferret DRB - can add/edit index, but can''t search
I''m trying to use the Ferret DRB server to avoid concurrency issues when using multiple mongrels. I can successfully add and edit data on my index via the DRB server, however, when I search the index, I get the following error: DRb::DRbConnError (DRb::DRbServerNotFound): /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/drb/drb.rb:1647:in `current_server'' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/drb/drb.rb:1709:in

How to use fixnum in RangeQuery?
As far as i know about the RangeQuery is that it need fixed-length number in query options such as RangeQuery.new(:count, :>= => ''00'', :<= => ''99''). But is there a mechanism to use a fixnum in the options instead of filling the left with 0? Regards. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Sorting/Ordering Search Results
Hello All, I am having an issue with AAF and sorting results of a search. Right now, I have results being split onto pages of 10. The results are being sorted alphabetically, but not across multiple pages - it''s just sorting the 10 it pulls down on each page. I noticed another post from April regarding this same issue (http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/62993#66934) where the issue was

Bug#608715: Recent hardware components render the xen-hyervisor unusable, fails completeley to boot due to kernel panic
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 Version: 4.0.1-1 Severity: grave Tags: squeeze upstream Some newer hardware components (it is unclear what exactly causes the issue) render xen-hyervisor unusable as it crashes immediately after boot for the Debian out-of-box configuration. This results in a system rebooting all over again if the hypervisor is choosen as default stanza to be booted by grub

fit data with skew t distribution
Hi, Is there a function in R that I can use to fit the data with skew t distribution? Speaking in detail, I first used the kernel density estimation to fit my data, then I drew the skew t using my specified location, scale, shape, and df to make it close to the kernel density. Now I want to get the parameter estimations of the skew t which give me the closet density to the kernel density.

I have the following code @results = SupplierProduct.find_by_contents(params[:search], :conditions => [''area_id = ?'', @area]) and it seems the condition isn''t being applied. Does anyone have any pointers? Cheers, Alastair -- Posted via
