Capistrano setup fails
I can''t get past the setup step in Capistrano. I know the paths are correct and I''m using zsh locally (bash on remote), so the shell shouldn''t be a problem. It never asks for the SSH password, even. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Kenneth -- => the blog from beyond <= => www.eyeheartzombies.com <=

Patch for superredcloth to enable textile table headers
SuperRedCloth v1.160 and svn rev 163 don''t work the textile commands that specify table headers instead of table data. Here''s a simple test: require ''superredcloth'' w = "|_. a|_. b|_. c|\n|1|2|3|" h = SuperRedCloth.new(w).to_html puts h <table> <tr> <td>_. a</td>

cannonical open source rails apps?
What do you think are the best examples of open source rails apps? I keep a copy of typo trunk around just to look at the code to see how they''ve solved a problem. Do you know other apps that you consider particularly well written? Thanks -- - Stephen Bannasch Concord Consortium, http://www.concord.org

hosting multiple rails apps in one webroot?
It''s actually REALLY easy with lighttpd on linux. Two apps... Myserver.com/code/ => /apps/code/ Myserver.com/test/ +> /apps/test/ Each application needs this in the environment.rb /apps/code/config/environment.rb ActionController::AbstractRequest.relative_url_root = "/code" /apps/test/config/environment.rb ActionController::AbstractRequest.relative_url_root

capistrano CLI automation - using capistrano as a library
Hi all, I''m trying to integrate Capistrano (thanks Jamis and DHH for such a lovely piece of software) into an application I''m writing. I can''t figure out, though, how to get output from capistrano when it''s used through the CLI or configuration class, however. I see that it implements a logger (Logger) and I see that starting on line 12 of the included

mongrel cluster restart with capistrano fails but manually works
Hi all, I am out of my head here... I have a 3 node cluster with 10 mongrels running on each. When I deploy, I break all the mongrels every time. I have tried just about everything. I can restart my mongrels without a hitch manually, it''s only when I use cap deploy. Maybe I am missing something here... so if I can get some help it would be appreciated. The errors are the typical mongrel

Capistrano Command Worries
Hey all, I have a problem that I cannot wrap my head around. I have a capistrano task to kill my lighttpd process and restart it. Here is the subtask, stop_lighttpd, that fails: task :stop_lighttpd, :roles => :web do run "kill -9 `ps aux | grep lighttpd | grep #{deploy_to} | awk ''{print $2}''` > /dev/null" end I know for a fact that when stop_lighttp is

can't use rake deploy with Capistrano
Hello, When I do rake deploy I have an error. As you can see, capistrano tryes to ln a dir that already removed (and I think that the directory is never created by capistrano). Before this command I made rake remote:exec ACTION="setup" that executed the following command: mkdir -p -m 775 /home/explicadores/apps/tutor/releases /home/ explicadores/apps/tutor/shared/system

Capistrano Deployment on Dreamhost
I''m having trouble getting Capistrano to work on Dreamhost. I seem to be having problems logging in, but I can ssh fine to my dreamhost server from this machine. This doesn''t seem like a dreamhost specific thing to me, but I''m kind of stuck. Here''s the exception I get from "cap setup":

Capistrano, chmod, and revisions.log
background: One of our developers is just getting started with Capistrano, just getting together a rudimentary deploy.rb, copied from one of our contract developers who is just getting started a bit too. I''m the systems manager and a complete Rails and Ruby newbie (who, by the way, cannot thank Zed Shaw enough for mongrel and Bradley Taylor enough for mongrel_cluster :-)

Deploy with Capistrano. Bundle install freezes indefinetly.
I am fighting with this for 5 days... i''m getting crazy! Here is my deploy.rb: require "bundler/capistrano" require "rvm/capistrano" # Load RVM''s capistrano plugin. set :rvm_ruby_string, :local # Or whatever env you want it to run in. ''1.9.3'' set :domain, ''www.xxx.com'' set :application,

GET request works via curl, crashes from Java
[That subject line is of course a severe truncation!] I''ve got a REST request that works fine from curl but causes a mongrel error when executed from a Java program. This all worked with fine with rails 1.1.6 and webrick. I''m trying to update the app to rails 1.2.1 (I need working around_filters). I''m running in development mode with mongrel 1.01 running on macosx

Fwd: Issue starting unicorn with non-ActiveRecord Rails app
Hi, I''m trying to use unicorn in a test deployment of a Rails app that uses Mongoid, so Activerecord isn''t included in the app. When I start unicorn through Capistrano though, the stderr log fills up endlessly with identical ActiveRecord-related errors: I, [2012-12-05T04:19:25.375952 #5096] INFO -- : Refreshing Gem list I, [2012-12-05T04:19:32.941249 #5096] INFO -- :

Capistrano and Uploaded Documents
I have an application I''m working on which allows me to upload files. The files are stored somewhere in the public directory so that they can be accessed directly. When I deploy an update with Capistrano, I ''lose'' the files because of the current symlink points to the new checked out version. Before I start working on a solution, has anyone else already solved this

Capistrano to deploy to Mac OS X?
We''re moving some "internal use" apps to a spare internal machine - instead of a public, shared host. I''m not sure if it''s relevant, but the new machine is running OS 10.3. I''m having a strange problem using Capistrano. It happens on both our development machines, and only when deploying to this server. I run ''cap deploy'' and get:

Git, Capistrano, Passenger, and Apache Questions
First, I''m trying to do the legwork with utilizing all 4 together because many people say it''s a good combination to use. I already have apache setup (was using it with the PHP version of my site formerly). I''ve installed all gems and dependencies that I need on my slice (using slicehost). I have a fully pushed git repository (master) on github (private git) with one
