Currency calculation
I''m thinking of experimenting with some currency conversion. However, I''d like the conversions to be in synch with the current rates. Anyone know (and this maybe out in left field) if there is some online (perhaps xml) or other data stream I can connect with in my code to output values based on user selection ? TIA Stuart

currency conversion webservice in a rails app?
Hi, I''m interested in using a currency conversion web service in my rails app. Does anyone have a free service that they use and like? I found this one http://www.webservicex.net/WS/WSDetails.aspx?CATID=2&WSID=10 I''ve tried to make a simple, plain Ruby script to connect to this and get a conversion rate without success. How do I integrate a webservice into my rails app? I

Ruby sprintf style question
In a rails app I have a sprintf("#0.2f",x.price) formatted value that may be nil. What is the preferred (short-elegant-terse) ruby way of testing for this and displaying a substitute text ("n/a") in place of the missing numeric value? Displaying number of Y/N affected by tree in rule form RE: R question/request on rules from rpart
Hi Prof. Williams, thanks for your suggestion. The updated code is below. It turns out it was a matter of displaying the second column in yval to get the number of N and subtracting it from the n column in the frame to get the number of Y remaining in a binary example. once this is added now the function returns the rules along with Y and N count affected by the resulting rule. Ruby Price format... (Noob)
I''ve never had much luck with sprintf... I can format a price descently enough with sprintf("$%0.2f",price) but for large values this only gives me $2500.00 I need the comma precision of $2,500.00... so how can I get that? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

I am new to Ruby on Rails. I have read a lot, and bought several books, and now I have started to implement a modified "shopping cart", following the AWDWR-book, with modifications to suit our application (subscriptions and memberships). Having done up to chapter 7 I have had no real problems, except one: Since our customers are Swedish I need the screen names, texts etc to be in
