a bug of xen?
Hi,all, we use xen3.0.3 and compiled the 2.6.16.29 kernel for both Xen0 and XenU on CentOS 4u4 x86_64, it works quite well and stable for almost 2 years, but when I build Xen and kernel on CentOS 4u4 i386 platform with same configuration, some strange happens, if I put XenU(CentOS 4u4 system) on image file (used dd command, and the mem is set to 512M), then if image file is less then 2G, the

[PATCH 0/2] Fix SMBios table regressions in HVM guests
The series "HVM firmware passthrough" series in Jan 2013 from Ross Philipson cause two regressions for HVM guests which sadly found their way into the Xen 4.3 release. The first regression causes an incorrect count of tables to be placed in the main header, and can be seen by running dmidecode in any applicable HVM domain. The second regression found its way into the public ABI, making

Syslinux using Asset Tag (from Dell or Compay) instead of MAC Adress
I am using PXELINUX to unattened install our machines with XP. It is a not very easy to handle with mac adresses because mac adresses can change when a motherboard is changed, but the asset tag from dell (or also from compaq) will be also updated when the motherboard is changed to the original value, so our unique key here is the asset tag. So my idea is to change the behaviour so that it will

getting name or uuid of vm within guest OS
Hi, for tl;dr people: how we can get uuid or name of a vm within a guest os? description: We are trying to implement a guest-agent for Archipel* to let us run simple commands on guest os**. in archipel each vm has its own jid (jabber id), user will open a chat conversation to vm's jid and send messages like "!exec ls", then we check that user (jid) who sent !exec has permission to

Building a http query string including SMBIOS Serial Number to load a specific kernel
Hello folks, There is a way to get the system serial number from SMBIOS and pass it as HTTP query string to get the kernel and initrd? Something like this: LABEL OS Download MENU LABEL Clonezilla MENU INDENT 1 KERNEL http://192.168.10.10/kernel.php?type=kernel ( http://myserver/kernel.php?SN=SMBIOS_SERIAL_NUMBER&type=kernel )&SN=SMBIOS_SERIAL_NUMBER APPEND

Question for smbios
I am reposting this because it's been 2 or 3 weeks. Hello, Hopefully this is the right place to send a question like this... I'm attempting to automate creation of VMs using virt-install and a cloud-init disk image. To get this to work, I need to specify the location of the cloud-init configs by passing smbios key/value pairs. Normally, -smbios is provided to qemu to do this. With

[PATCH] HVM SMBIOS v2 0/5
The following patches are a cleaned up version of the HVM SMBIOS patches I submitted last Friday. Differences include (1) SMBIOS is no longer optional for HVM domU''s. (2) The refactoring I did of hvmloader wasn''t really necessary, so I got rid of it. (3) The patches have been tested on changeset 10671:b20580cf7fc1bfe5119597bb5b576cdd020551d5 (4) The versions of strcpy() and

please ignore previous SMBIOS patches
For some reason, half of the patches I posted on Friday for HVM SMBIOS support haven''t shown up yet. I''m going to try to post a version of them reworked for changeset 11076:f328519053f5a444af475ec10dc8089a0b176e3f in a few moments, so please ignore the previous posts. Thanks! [RFC] [PATCH] HVM SMBIOS support 0/6
This series of patches adds support for SMBIOS to HVM domU''s. This is needed by many systems management applications, most often to get a useful UUID inside of an HVM domU. They have been tested on changeset 10486:5610d916ad1be231bd6b6c7ae26665374623a90c of xen-unstable. Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated. problem with smbios 2.13?
Hello, I''m using the latest b75 ISO to try and get a solaris dom0 running on my laptop, a Sony SZ-330P. The Xen LiveCD works just fine, so I know that theoretically it should work. Build 75 also works just fine on my Sony, including sound and video, etc. But when I try and boot the Xen kernel, the system hangs. There''s no panic printed to console. If I pass a -v option at

Question about voltage threshold setting in NUT
Hey Charles, Latest update. Looks like in ups.conf I setup default.input.transfer.low = 84. After I took that line out, restart upsdrvctl, upsmon, and upsd, the command of sudo upsrw -s input.transfer.low=70 -u * -p * ups return OK. Still need to verify if it works by using voltage regulator and will keep you updated. Thank you for your help Regards Shen On Thu, Jun 5, 2014 at 8:54 AM,

[TESTING] SMBIOS Type 6 anyone?
Some people have reported that the menu doesn't display any memory information on some machines. I have implemented the 3.3.7 Memory Module Information (Type 6, Obsolete) hoping it solves the problem (CLI only right now). If you want to play with it, a build can be found at: http://pub.mouraf.org/syslinux/hdt/hdt-type6.c32 How to test: hdt> dmi dmi> show It will show the

[LLVMdev] Why function pointer is different from other data type?
"float (i32)* (float (i32)*)*" is not a return type. According to the description of the 'call' instruction in LLVM Assembly Language Reference Manual (http://llvm.org/docs/LangRef.html#i_call) this is a signature of the pointer to function value being invoked (which includes the return type). In your case the full signature is printed because get_ptr returns a pointer to
