XCI Hangs on "Starting XenConsoled" During Boot
I''m trying to get XCI running on a Lenovo T61 with Intel-based graphics following the steps in the HOWTO in the build directory. I was able to get to the GRUB screen but never get to the "Welcome to XenClient" prompt. When I boot with the full console output, the system hangs indefinitely after "Starting XenConsoled". I''m well trained in the XenServer

[XCI] xci build issues
After a hiatus, I have made another attempt at getting the XCI code-base up-and-running, but have run into some issues that I am hoping someone can help me with. 1. I am finding that a large hurdle in getting this building is chasing down build dependencies, of which there are many. Since the wiki recommends that this be built on a 32bit Debian lenny system - does anyone have a list of necessary

Archiving XCI : Request for an Archivation Review for the XCI project
Hi everybody, the XCI project appears to have been dormant for a while and there is no project lead for XCI today. In line with Xen governance (see phttp://www.xen.org/projects/governance.html), I would like to first get community views on the health of the project and then schedule an archivation review. Let me quote from the process: "The review is essentially a pitch why the

XCP and opensolaris
Hi, I saw an earlier message from Rune Nilssen on using opensolaris for storage with XCP. I was just wonder if Rune could give some more details about his setup? Also, I was wondering what tools people are using to manage XCP. I saw somewhere that XenClient could be used, but it complained about a version mismatch for me. XCI: can we get to the demo state?
Hello XCI developers, I have a HP6930, downloaded xenclient from the git. And by following the instruction in HOWTO, I could get xenclient boot up fine. I try then to start a guest using xenvm.readme as template and nothing shows on the screen for the guest, although xenops shows 2 doms running. Can you point me to how to start a guest. And also, is the tree downloaded from git enough to arrive

IPF/Xen VTI domain testing report for Xen 3.0.3 RC1
Hi all, We have tested IPF/Xen on 3.0.3rc1. The testing mainly focus on the VTI domains. It includes guest booting, memory size, vcpu number, guest installation, SMP guest, guest coexist, xm command, Xwindows and Windows 2k3. The testing results are good. There are only 6 issues found. All of them are not new. 1. VTI domain and XenU domain might meet “Can not allocate memory”. This is bug.

[VTD][PATCH] a time out mechanism for the shared interrupt issue for vtd
Attached is a patch for shared interrupt between dom0 and HVM domain for vtd. Most of problem is caused by that we should inject interrupt to both domains and the physical interrupt deassertion then may be delayed by the device assigned to the HVM. The patch adds a timer, and the time out value is sufficient large to tolerant the delaying used to wait for the physical interrupt deassertion.

IO-APIC line level race condition
Sadly, we have discovered another line level interrupt race condition in Xen-4.1. The result was that an outstanding un-eoi''d interrupt at the IO-APIC resulted in the mptsas controller offlining the root filesystem. This is now two separate IO-APIC bugs found recently. 1) Cisco C210 M2 server - EOI Broadcast Suppression, io_apci_ack=old 2) Dell R710 - No EOI Broadcast Suppression,

[PATCH] x86: change IO-APIC ack method default for single IO-APIC systems
Ever since 3.0.2 we''ve been carrying this patch in our products. Since there was no indication that there would be anything wrong with the ''new'' IO-APIC ack method added back then, we finally decided to drop this patch recently from SLE11, to find that the subsequent release candidate failed to work on at least on system without using "ioapic_ack=old". XenVGAPassthrough Xen 4.0.0
Hello, I''m searching for a solution to execute Windows 3D applications (e.g. Games or CAD software) through Linux for about 3 years. I tried plenty of things, VirtualBox and VMWare DirectX support, Xen VGA pass-through (there once was a patch) etc, etc. When I recently visited a Citrix event there was a small demo/introduction of XenClient which is capable of running 2 (or more?)

3w_9xxx + Xen-patched 2.6.30 dom0 == bad LUN detection
I''ve been attempting to update my dom0 kernel by using the 2.6.27 git tree from the xenclient repo and also to 2.6.30 using opensuse patches rebased by Andrew Lyon. In both cases there''s a problem with the 3ware 3w_9xxx driver incorrectly detecting the LUNs on the device or some other issue, which ultimately prevents partition table detection. In my testing I applied the

Hi keir, In credit scheduler, two vcpus in the same domain may be scheduled on the same CPU. For instance, vcpu0 and vcpu1 are running on the same CPU, vcpu0 is doing spin_lock in guest, then time slice is due, vcpu0 is scheduled out before doing

[VTD][patch 0/5] HVM device assignment using vt-d
The following 5 patches are re-submissions of the vt-d patch. This set of patches has been tested against cs# 15080 and is now much more mature and tested against more environments than the original patch. Specifically, we have successfully tested the patch with following environements: - 32/64-bit Linux HVM guest - 32-bit Windows XP/Vista (64-bit should work but did not test) -

[RFC][PATCH 4/6] HVM PCI Passthrough (non-IOMMU)
int.patch: - Supports only level-triggered interrupts. Edge interrupts support will be added shortly (should be fairly simple) - Change polarity trick: in order to reflect the external device''s assertion state, the ioapic pin gets its polarity changed whenever an interrupt occur. So an interrupt is generated when the _external_ line is asserted (then,
