Can someone help with this error?
Hello all,
I get this intermittent error saying OpenURI::HTTPError. At the bottom of
the email is what is reported in my backgroundrb_server_<port>.log file. The
process_netflix_reviews method is parsing (in the background) Netflix''s RSS
feeds. This error also pretty much brings down the BDRb process and to
recover, I am forced to do a
./script/backgroundrb stop

Howtos: Deploying Rails on Windows servers
After a lot of work (and much promising) I have written instructions
on various methods to deploy Rails applications in a Windows
environment. For those of you who are not stuck with Windows, this
won''t matter too much to you, but I think this is really useful for
those in Windows shops.
Topics covered:
* Serving Multiple Rails Applications on Windows with Apache and

[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] YAC? (Yet Another Capistrano)
My needs are far more modest than Capistrano''s capabilities. Also, when
working in a shared hosting environment, the Capistrano model can be
outside the capabilities allowed by the Web host.
I simply need to push selected directories (on a changed-file basis) out
to a server. I have about 80% of the code written to do this (I''m
considering YAC for the name, with a nod to

FTP hangs Rails!
Hi! I''m running a Rails app on Apache/FCGI, with a single handler
process on the server.
At one point my application needs to FTP a bunch of files to a remote
server. When it starts doing this, the server apparently freezes and
doesn''t allow anyone else to do anything. Plus, after about twenty
seconds, my nice status page vanishes from the browser, even though

Hello,
I get this error when installating Markaby plugin.
Using a browser I can access this site, but here ''open-uri.rb''
says ''404 Not Found''. Am I missing the point?
Thanks in advance.

Microsoft SQL Server has me stumped
I''m tinkering around with an old legacy table in SQL Server 2000.
Ruby 1.8.4, most recent ADO.rb file from RubyForge, Rails 1.0
Here''s the model:
class InventoryItem < ActiveRecord::Base
set_table_name "[_SMDBA_].[_INVENTOR_]"
set_primary_key "sequence"
end
Everything works fine. I can retrieve records without issue.
However, when create a new

Stubbing a Kernel method?
Is it possible to stub a Kernel method? I''m specifically interested in
the ''open'' method to test some code using open-uri. I''ve tried:
Kernel.should_receive(:open).with(''filename'').and_return(''data'')
However, this doesn''t seem to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

nil.strip error While trying to post xml data over https.
I am trying to subit some xml data over https to access an API. My code
so far seems to generate a very non-helpful error in the guts of the
net/http library. This code produces a NoMethodError for nil.strip"

ActionWebService: XMLRPC Server Multicall possible?
Hi all,
I have a question concerning ActionWebService XMLRPC servers: Is it
possible to send multicall requests to the Web service? I tried to
use multicall and get the error message:
no such method ''system.multicall'' on API [MyAPI]
In Changeset 2021 there is the following commit message:
add ''system.multicall'' support to XML-RPC. boxcarred methods must

Isn''t it possible to stub / expect on :id ?
Hi all !
Running this:
@payout = stub_everything(:id => 141)
Payout.stubs(:find).with(@payout.id).returns(@payout)
Generates this warning:
./test/functional/payouts_controller_test.rb:22: warning: Object#id
will be deprecated; use Object#object_id
What am I missing ? :id is a fairly frequent method to override in
Rails-based applications.

a possible bug in Has_many :through using :soucre
I''ve been stumped on this for a few days and I''m not sure if it''s an error
on my end or an actual bug.
I have a system where I have workshops and users. Workshops have students,
presenters, and troubleshooters. I wanted to represent this simply by
using has_many :through with :source.

Payment Gem Error
I am learning how to use the payment gem to process credit cards. I
think I have everything up and running correctly but I get this error:
undefined method `use_ssl='' for #<Net::HTTP secure.authorize.net:443

Would anyone have an idea what would cause that?

I''m trying to do a basic get or post operation using Net::HTTP in SSL mode.
I''m on TextDrive, which runs ruby 1.8.2; however, I have the /net folder

present in 1.8.2.

Running Rails tasks by schedule, instead of an HTTP request.
Hi there
I''m considering Rails for a new web-application planned to be built
from scratch.
The application has an extensive web front, and in fact most of the
application is interfaced through that front and engaged through
clients'' HTTP requests (i.e. the conventional way web-applications and
"dynamic web-sites" work). However, some essential parts are supposed

Getters and setters problem?
Hi list,
first evening of playing with rails, so please forgive me if I ask
something stupid. ;-)
I created a User model and tried to use ActiveRecord callbacks to
convert the password to sha1 just before saving it. For some reason
postgresql gives me a error because the given password is null. To
test even further I tried to change :login too, same error happens,
:login is empty too.
I am sure
