Ferret and non latin characters support
I''ve successfully installed ferret and acts_as_ferret and have no
problem with utf-8 for accented characters. It returns correct results
fot e.g. fran?ais. My problem is with non latin characters (Persian
indeed). I have tested different locales with no success both on Debian
and Mac. Any idea?

mongrel_cluster: selective restarts
Hi list,
I have tried to reach Bradley (author of mongrel_cluster) by mail, but
have not gotten a response. So I''ll try trough this channel:
I have ''developed''[1] a small extension to mongrel_cluster that allows
selective restart of any one listener in a configuration that contains

Concurrency Problem in 0.11.3
Hi,
I''m having some strange/random crashes with ferret when using different
programs on the same index.
I created a script to reproduce the errors:
http://www.sig11.org/~seb/ferret_crash.rb
Usage:
In one terminal run: ruby ferret_crash.rb first
In another terminal: ruby ferret_crash.rb
Errors I usually get are but it is really random:

End of File Error on index optmize
I was optimizing a 650MB using ferret (0.11.3) and I received the
following error. I''ve seen some people have similar issues but I
haven''t seen any resolutions. The contents of the index directory
follow the error. Has anyone seen anything like this and found a
resolution? Many thanks.

ferret 0.11.3 - File Not Found
Hi,
I noticed a 0.11.3 release and gave it a whirl. I''ve so far not been
able to reproduce any segfaults with my ferret_killer[1] script, though
I do get some errors.
when the searching process is running and I start the indexing process,
I immediately get:

Custom analyzer weirdness with 0.11.3
Hi-
I was previously using 0.11.4, and I wrote my own analyzer. Everything
worked fine.
When I took the system to production, 0.11.4 starting failing updating
the index, complaining that files were missing. The failure always
happened on the same model document, and was completely reproducible.
This failure looked a lot like the one described at
http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/104145.

Any chance to get 0.11.3 on windows soon ?
Hi,
I''m working on a Ferret-based application which indexes content in all
European languages. Thus, I have to deal with those funny European
characters.
After googling a bit, I decided to move on with a custom European
analyzer based on MappingFilter, as suggested in the Ferret rdoc.
Everything works fine with Ferret 0.11.3 on Mac OS X.
But this application needs to run on both

Is indexing slower?
Hi - I upgraded to Ferret 0.11.3 from 0.10.13.
I used to index 10,000 records in 10 secs. Now it takes 13 minutes.
(That''s a factor of ~75x)
Did something change in the flush semantics, or something?
Thanks!
