Best way to handle namespace collisions?
All, I have a little namespace collision here. I am trying to use both RubyfulSoup (an HTML parser - which I highly recommend by the way) and the ActionView::Helpers::TextHelper class. Within the TextHelper class, there''s an attempt to create a new "Tag" object. However, Tag is also defined in the RubyfulSoup gem and it is _this_ Tag class whose initialize method is

adding new validates_foo to the models
I was thinking of adding some new validates_foo to my models. How could I create these so that they are reusable in my other apps. Would these need to be plugins? I''m not sure how to go about creating these. Charlie Bowman http://www.recentrambles.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Weird Caching Issue
Hey all, Here''s the issue... I''m not entirely sure it''s even a Cache-related issue, but here it goes: I''ve deployed a Rails app onto a subdomain of my clients site... The server is running Apache2, and I''m proxying through to Lighttpd. The issue I''m having is that I''m able to add content to the site (data exists in the db), but

Timing of effects before and after Ajax call
Hello, I have a problem with the timing of effects. I do have a tag (with id: post1). When the link is clicked, the block "post1" must BlindUp. Then the block is updated with the new content and then the effect BlindDown is executed. Below is the source code of the link_to_remote I am using. <%= link_to_remote("Ajax Edit", :update =>

how to format and syntax highlight code in html
I''ve written my own blog (I know typo is better, but I wanted the experience of writing my own) and I want to add syntax highlighting to it. I''ve read about using the ruby gem syntax but I can''t figure out how to implement it. I''ve also wondered if it could be used in my case. How does it work when you have a long line of code but the <div> your

Firefox ''Rails Mailing List'' search engine plugin
Hi all, If you''re like me you probably spend a lot of time search the Rails mailing list. To make life a little bit easier I''ve created a nice little plugin for firefox ( A whopping 15 lines of markup ). The plugin uses nabble.com to search the mailing list. Anyways, I thought I''d share. If you want to install it the manual way, here''s the code. <search

Rails wizard page support
Hello, does anyone know if there is a "best practice" how to implement wizard pages in RoR? I want to have multiple pages for entity editing and creation. Is there any rails plugin available? I think it would be nice to have a howto in the rails wiki or to have built-in wizard support in RoR. What do you think? Any suggestions how to implement this elegant? -- Oliver Paulus OpenPGP

what''s your rails wishlist?
I''ve been working with rails for a while now. Rails is the second web framework I''ve tried. It blows the doors off catalyst (perl''s best framework). I even just wrote my first plugin (broomstick). Ruby''s ability to meta-program blew me away with it''s ease of use. I''ve been so impressed with the helpers that rails uses to make a lot of

Rails and JRuby
Has anyone attempted to run Rails inside of JRuby? Is that even possible? Aside from the performance implications, is it a bad idea? I''m thinking that it might be useful in very rare cases where a Ruby/Rails - equivalent of a Java solution may not exist yet. Any thoughts? Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Prompting user to enter value to feed Find
Hi, While viewing part of a long list of records, the user may want to do a Find of a specific record (for example, find_by_name). The found record is then displayed using the list view. I''ve searched the wiki and couldn''t find a sample or information that will help directly in implementing this function. Any pointers? Thanks! gk -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
