Please: Desperately Seeking Session expiration (DRbStore)
Hello, this is killing me: i can''t find a way to let idle sessions expire after a certain period of time. If they don''t expire, they will pile up until there''s no more memory available. Please, can anybody give me a hint? Basically, all I need is a hash or list with all the sessions in DRbStore. Greetings Michael Kastner

Session-Problem: singleton can''t be dumped
Hello, after having changed the session store from CGI::Session::DRbStore to CGI::Session::ActiveRecordStore, I keep getting an error which says: singleton can''t be dumped However, my session object is not a singleton. Does anybody know what causes this error? I can also post the full stack trace, if required. Greetings Michael Kastner

Newbie question - Rails without database
Hello to all, I am entirely new to Ruby and also to Ruby on Rails. As far as I understand, Rails builds its model according to the a specified table structuree in in the database. However, most of my applications, are for the most part (except some backend CRUD stuff) not database centric. They do a lot of calculation for the user. So, how can I create a model, when no database is needed,

Applicationwide BusinessObject/Hash
Hello, I''m a total newbie, so please forgive my ignorance. I am trying to port an application from java to ruby. In order to do that, I need to put the object containing all the business logic into something like application scope. The nicest solution would be just to have an application wide hash, where I can put all kinds in of objects. Where and how would I instantiate such an

Access to session data
Greetings, This, I hope, is a simply answered question. Based on Agile Web Development with Rails (depot application), I''m developing a single table application for contact info. There is only an admin side to this, so there''s always authentication. Part of the info record (member) is changed_by and changed_at which I automatically want updated. Changed_at looks after

Multi language pages (access @session from a model)
Hi, I''m creating a simple Ruby on Rails based CMS. It will support multiple languages. Therefore I''ve a table ''pages'' and a table ''page_translations''. The table ''page'' contains a title and body in the default language, the table ''page_translations'' contain a title and body for an other language. Now I

IMAP session freezes
I've been having IMAP sessions "freeze" with fetchmail trying to retrieve larger e-mails, typically over 20K and always with an attachment. When I switch to POP3 I am able to retrieve the same e-mails just fine. This started at test33. I'm currently using test42 on a OpenBSD 3.5/macppc system with Maildir.

sessions accounting and monitoring
Hi, we would have some accounting/monitoring of pop and imap sessions in our dovecot servers, which are the 'best' and fair way to do it? using some post-login scripts, parsing the log file, using netstat ... I know in the 2.0 version exists the doveadm who, but only relates to imap sessions... some recommendations? thanks Xavier

Session in ActiveRecordStore
The Agile book seems to say I should specify this as follows, probably in the environments.rb: ActionController::CgiRequest::DEFAULT_SESSION_OPTIONS[:database_manager] = CGI::Session::ActiveRecordStore BUT the environments.rb file would have me Un-Comment this: config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store Anyway, I''ve tried both, and in both cases it

Regarding net groupmap
Well, my Samba 3.0.4 is joined to a w2k AD and works fairly well so far, as it's not in a production environment yet. I am now testing it for such a release and have encountered a permission problem. Unless I chmod -R 777 the Samba share directroy, users can only read files on the share, including the ADS users in Domain Admins. Reading the Samba online manual, I figured the groupmap

session active_record_store
Hi, There doesn''t seem to be any previous posts about this problem, I must be setting things up wrongly at very basics... Firstly, the problem... I can''t get session[] to persist with active_record_store. I enabled (config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store) in environment.rb and created the sessions table at my MySQL database. When I do a session[:blah] =

looking for 802.11 SIP phone
While I have found a few 802.11 cordless SIP phones, It's not ovious how they select which network to associate with. What I'm looking for is a 802.11 SIP phone that will auto detect the closest wireless network(s), offer a list to select from, then auto configure itself using dhcp. If you think about it this could be quite handy when strolling around in populated areas. Could someone

SessionCleanup (clean up sessions within Rails app)
SessionCleanup is a routine to clear out stale sessions from within a Rails application. A Rails application creates a new session for every connection. Over time, this leads to the accumulation of hundreds or thousands of stale session files or session records (if you''re using a database). These sessions are often cleaned out manually or by the use of a cron job. Neither of these
