Having trouble getting Edge Rails running
Hello,
I''ve been playing with this for hours, and got through a couple glitches
(e.g. updating to Ruby 1.8.4) but this one is well beyond my N00b
skills. When trying to run script/server I get:
./script/../config/../vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:87:in

How painful is the 1.0 -> 1.1 upgrade going to be?
Does anyone have a sense for how painful the 1.0 -> 1.1 upgrade is
going to be for existing apps? I''m finishing up my first real RoR
application with Rails 1.0. I can live with it staying at that level,
but I really want to use the has_many :through attribute to clean up
some of my code.
I''m not particularly interested in edge Rails, mainly because the
documentation for

Unable to automatically link controller and model?
This is the first time I''ve seen this. I''m running Rails 1.0 on lighttpd
(Mac OS/X) and all my other Rails apps are working just fine.
I did:
script/generate controller Menu
script/generate model Menu
added a little code (like scaffold :menu)
and got:
undefined method `find'' for Menu:Dependencies::LoadingModule
Adding
model :menu
solves the problem. Anyone know

Updating to 1.1.0 crashes webrick on existing apps
Hi all,
I''m (well was) running rails on debian. After the update to rails 1.1.0 newly
created aps run great. But trying to start webrick for an old one makes me
cry (see below).
Any docs on how to ''migrate'' existing apps to the up and up?
Thanx n Grtz
Gerard.

r3981 causes SystemStackError
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/changeset/3981

The changes are a rename of RailsInfoController to
Rails::InfoController. That seems to be completely unrelated to this

Intermittent error - undefined method ''destroy_without_callbacks''
When testing my app locally I''m getting intermittent errors which are
driving me mad!
The error is:
NameError ((eval):1:in `alias_method'': undefined method
`destroy_without_callbacks'' for class `Exercise''):
Refreshing the browser sometimes fixes it, as does restarting WEBrick.
Annoying to debug as it only happens intermittently.

no such file to load -- net/https
Hi,
Came across the substruct project and decided to download and play with
it. Am running rails 1.1.2 with ruby 1.8.4 on Ubuntu.
I start webrick .. went to the admin section of the store. Create a
product. Went to the store section and put this product in my cart and
then clicked on checkout. I fill the form and submit it . I click on
the "Finish Order" button and get the following

app no longer runs - MissingSourceFile for any controller
Hello all. I somehow managed to break my rails app running under Apache 2
with fcgi. With any action I try, it throws an exception saying it can''t
find the source file. For instance, requesting an action in my
welcome_controller results in:
MissingSourceFile in <controller not set>#<action not set>
No such file to load -- app/controllers/welcome_controller.rb

Correct way to capture a select param
I''m having trouble capturing the params from a select type form.
For text field like this:
<%= text_field_tag :courseid %>
I''m able to capture the posted value with this
params[:courseid]
However with a select field like this:
<%= select(:course, :id, %w{value1 value2 value3} %>
I''m not sure how to capture the posted value.

Net/Https & active_rbac & Debian Sarge
Hi,
I''m attempting an install of active_rbac but am having some troubles.
I''m running Debian 3.1 sarge and I am getting an error saying that I
need to have net/https installed.
I checked out my ruby lib and net/https.rb is nowhere to be found.
I''m running the default ruby for Sarge which is 1.8.2. Was https.rb not
included in this build?
How can I get around this? I

UserEngine: stack level too deep
Hi,
I''m trying to get the UserEngine running.
I have installed the LoginEngine, added the essential lines to
environment.rb / application.rb and application_helper.rb.
Worked fine.
Then I did the same with the UserEngine and when trying to set up the
db:
rake engine_migrate ENGINE=user
I get:
Migrating engine ''user_engine''
rake aborted!

testing template components
Hi,
I''m plowing through the template section of "Agile Rails", specifically the
stuff starting on P. 364. What is a good strategy for testing components?
My initial thought is to mimic the Rails application "test" directory. No
problem.
Next copy the setup method, and set it up like so -
class SidebarControllerTest < Test::Unit::TestCase
def setup

[PATCH] sysprep: allow to specify globbing for --delete
Adapt the globbing part from the old --remote-path work previously
proposed for sysprep [1], allowing --delete to perform globbing when
deleting paths.

Nested matchers
We''re encountering a failure with Mocha 0.5.6.
We had this expectation:
game_version.expects(:attributes=).with(:game_file =>
kind_of(GameFile), :game_id => @game.id)
This expectation was passing with 0.5.5, but fails with 0.5.6.
I added this test to parameter_matcher_acceptance_test.rb, which
passes in 0.5.5 and fails in 0.5.6
