Issues with dynamic finders ruby-1.8.4 / rails-1.0.0
Hi all,
I am not certain this is a 1.8.4 related issue, but I think it might be.
I''m trying to use dynamic finders for my Category and Post models,
such that a request /blog/categories/general would detect the slug and
do a find_by_slug() instead of find(params[:id]).
My have_slug?() method works fine, and the dynamic finders *were*
working fine until I moved it off my local machine

Using Mongoid with ActiveRecord
I''m trying to use mongodb and postgresql simultaneously with Rails
3.1. I believe I have everything set up correctly.
What I''m interested in knowing is how to get rails to flip-flop back-
and-forth between mongoid and activerecord.
For example, if I want to generate an ActiveRecord model after using
mongoid, rails automatically defaults to the Mongoid gem.

[cucumber] Nested resource in paths.rb
Hello Rspec Users,
I was wondering how you specify a nested resource in cucumber. So for
example:
Given I have a blogpost titled Question For Nice Rspec Users
When I am on the list of comments for Question For Nice Rspec Users
Then I should see "Answer"
Now, as one might expect, blogpost has_many :comments, so my question is
this:
How should I write the "when-case" for

Including another helper
I need to include another helper module apart from the normal two
(ApplicationHelper and [controllername]Helper). The inclusion needs to
be dynamic and based on external parameters (ie what helper that get
included differ from request to request).
Is it possible? How?

Timing of banner
A user at a Windows PC uses our SSH client software (Anzio) to access a
Linux sshd. User would like the banner from the server to display BEFORE
entering a login name.
According to the SSH spec, this should be allowed. But the OpenSSH source
seems to have specifically prevented this. Is there a good reason for
this?

problem joining the domain
We've encountered a problem with getting a newly installed Samba based
machine to join the domain.
Here's the command line and error response:

embedded spaces in group names
Hello,
Many of our NT domain groups have names that contain embedded spaces, like
"Domain Admins". When I attempt to use winbind and assign rights via those
groups the granting fails. Group names without embedded spaces, like
"Domain_Admins" work fine.
In smb.conf I've tested specifying the name as:
"DOMAIN+Domain Admin"
DOMAIN+Domain\ Admin and

Update on protection against slowloris
Hi list!
We tested mod_antiloris 0.4 and found it quite efficient, but before
putting it in production, we would like to hear some feedback from
freebsd users. We are using Apache 2.2.x on Freebsd 6.2 and 7.2. Is
anyone using it? Do you have any other way to patch against Slowloris
other than putting a proxy in front or using the HTTP accept filter?
Thanks for your feedback,
Martin

I probably should have posted this as a pastebin link to retain
carriage returns and such. Mailing lists have a way of mangling stuff
like this. :-)

Computer Appears in Wrong Workgroup
Hello,
I'm using Samba 3.0.0rc2-Debian on Debian unstable. At the time being it
does everything I want it to except one: I'm in the wrong workgroup.
Despite the line
workgroup = BETASIG
in my smb.conf, I show up in the workgroup "WORKGROUP." There is no mention
of "workgroup" or "WORKGROUP" anywhere else in my smb.conf other than this.
Would be happy

Developers having access to deploy
Hi
I''m in the process of looking for a way to have developers deploying
on their test systems without intervention of sysadmins, to solve this
i''d like to use Puppet (either the OSS version or Enterprise,
whichever solves the problem).
I can manage to only grant access to certain systems and limit the
ability to execute puppetd --test, however, the developers would like

xen EFI boot and vga-passthrough
Hi all
I can''t seem to find any information on vga-passthrough when booting through xen.efi, so I assume it should work. But I encounter a problem on a windows 7 HVM that boots fine when dom0 is booted through MBR but fails when dom0 is booted through UEFI.
My system is:
DQ77KB motherboard with bios version 44
Core i7-3779T with VT-d

zapata.conf not being parsed by *
I am running * 1.0.3 for some reason when I start * is does not appear to be parsing my zapata.conf file. I do not see any errors * just does not seem to know to look for zapata.conf. I am unable to use my FXO card to make calls or receive calls. I have been able to configure SIP to work correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I spent most of last night searching for an answer.

Restricting to a subset of the domain controllers on a site
Had a situation where users could not map drives from Windows XP to
Solaris 9 system running Samba-3.0.10 for Active Directory. This
system has been running for a couple of years without problems. Now
recently, the site administrators have added some new servers to the
domain which may have introduced a problem.
This krb5.conf file has been modified to hide the site in question.

kern/157863: [geli] kbdmux prevents geli passwords from being entered properly on boot
Hello,
Just to let everyone know that this is still an issue.
I am trying to install FreeBSD 9.0 amd64 on a Lenovo X121e and I
can't get it to accept the geli passphrase during boot. I've confirmed
using kern.geom.eli.visible_passphrase=1 that the passphrase is
correct, and the same passphrase is accepted when the system is
booted up.
I've tried disabling kbdmux in

Backspace key does not work in a ssh chroot jail
I setup a ssh chroot jail following this[1] guide. It works for my user to login, use ls and use scp which is all I really want. I do have a problem I cannot solve: when connected and navigating the filesystem, the backspace key actually moves the cursor forward and does not delete what I type.
I may have found a hint from some googling that readline will read in /etc/inputrc on login but if

Modify $TERM from config
The terminal programs (xterm, gnome-terminal, etc.) in Fedora have all
supported 256 colors for quite a while, so there's a proposal for Fedora
to switch them to using "xterm-256color" for $TERM. One drawback would
be when you SSH to another host that doesn't have an up-to-date terminal
database and doesn't recognize "xterm-256color" (but does know
