File upload doesn''t work in production mode
Can anyone understand what the production.log file is telling me. I''ve tried playing with the permissions for the folders and it makes no difference. Every time I submit the form to upload the file I get "Application error (Rails)" which doesn''t really help. Processing DocsController#create (for 82.152.151.194 at 2006-04-12 12:44:13) [POST] Session ID:

file_column permissions
this is getting frustrating... i installed file_column without a hitch for the first time to just play around with. using the exact same steps as before, i try to use it with one of my actual applications, and i get "permission denied" errors. i figure there might be some conflict with my application so just for kicks i do the exact same thing i did the first time to test

Not all mongrel starting (Errno:EEXIST)
I''m playing with the mongrel clustering, and am having a problem getting 2 mongrels to start up reliably. This should be a pretty simple cluster, with just 2 instances running. My mongrel config (mongrel_cluster.yml) looks like: cwd: /deployment/installed/myapp/current log_file: log/mongrel.log port: "8000" environment: production address: 127.0.0.1 pid_file:

stuck with permissions in using FileUtils
Even if I am using PaperClip & Delayed_job, I guess the issue maybe solved by FileUtisl gurus ... here is the case : I am testing a delayed video format transcoding , transcoding works perfectly but I get an issue -trying to write back the transcoded video from a tmp directory into the PaperClip path the original uploaded video file is stored into the :url => "/system/

Windows UNC''s
Hi Graham, In that case I''ll have to redefine File.delete and Dir.rmdir in the win32-file package and win32-dir packages, respectively. Please add a feature request on the project page so I don''t forget. I should have it done this weekend. Dan Foster, Graham wrote: > I want to create a long UNC based path.. Looking for a good resource on open-uri and FileUtils
Hi all, I''m needing to extend the Paperclip Storage module to handle external URL''s so that I can upload my doc''s/images to an external source rather than the app''s local file system. The FileSystem module reads module Filesystem def self.extended base end def exists?(style = default_style) if original_filename

Taking a stab at a pure Ruby Dir.glob
Hi all, Here''s what I''ve come up with so far for a pure Ruby Dir.glob for MS Windows. It almost works. The problem right now is the [] notation, which I''m not translating properly into a regex. I haven''t started on the ''**'' notation yet either, but I figure that''s more of a control flow issue. Feel free to disagree with me and/or

Question of uploading large file using carrierwave, uploadify and nginx upload module
Hey ROR users, I have a small experimental web app which is for uploading files. The web app uses carrierwave, uploadify. It works fine on small size files. However, it can not handle large size files (>1G) efficiently. Then I decided using nginx upload module, it worked well on small size files after modification of codes,. But It fails on uploading large files (>1G) because of http error

Broken config/lighttpd.conf? (in EdgeRails)
I''m using Mac OS X, I installed Ruby/Rails/lighttpd/etc via the instructions from hivelogic. I think I''ve found a bug with EdgeRails, but I''m not sure how to submit it (and maybe I''m doing something wrong and someone can just point me in the right direction). Anyway I thought I''d report it just in case it is a bug. I''ve downloaded

stylesheet_link_tag, javascript_include_tag, caching problems
So, the new caching for stylesheet_link_tag, javascript_include_tag which rolls up the files into one all.js or all.css files is great ... however I''ve run into an issue: If all.cs or all.js don''t exist, they get generated ... great, I''ve reduced the number of gets ... The problem is what occurs when the files already exist ... even if I''ve changed my list of

ImageMagick and EXIF Data
Hi there, I''m writing a little application that parses an image file and extracts the camera settings from the file (the EXIF data) and saves all the fields to the database. The idea is that after awhile people will be able to search based on camera make, model, lens settings, etc... and all the pictures that meet those requirements will be displayed. The picture is stored on the file

accidentally created a rails app in the home folder
Im a new user - I just installed rails, following directions here: http://rubyonrails.org/download however, when it came time to make a rails new path/etc/etc I get this message: Can''t initialize a new Rails application within the directory of another, please change to a non-Rails directory first. [PATCH] sysprep: handle distro specific sysv scripts
Currently firstboot would only work on redhat-based images. Handle redhat-based, suse-based and debian guests, error out in case of an unknown distro. Update firstboot.sh: - make sure scripts exists and can be executed - add LSB header to avoid insserv warnings later on - run script only if called with "start" Update functions, pass only required options. FastCGI and Apache. Anybody know what can cause this error?
Does anybody know what could possibly be causing my error? Somehow action_controller got into a state where it was retuning not found for about 4 out of every 5 requests, seemingly arbitrarily. Has anybody else ever experienced this? I''ve heard that apache and fastcgi is not the best solution, do you think this is fcgi''s fault? Could it be a bug in my ruby code? Could it be a

attachment_fu & update_attributes... bug?
It seems that attachment_fu is a pretty popular plugin (it''s great), but I''ve been having a terrible time trying to figure out an issue when using "update_attributes". I''m storing files on the file system rather than in a database. It seems that when "update_attributes" is called with a new file, upload_data= tries to copy a file that
