xm mem-set on an F11 xen guest
I just tried to change the memory for my F11 xen guest from 512 to 1024. After executing: xm mem-set workstation 1024 xm list shows the memory still being 512. Anyone else see this behavior before? I tried other values as well - but the memory is still what it was when I created the VM... I'm running CentOS 5.4 on an i386... Scot P. Floess 27 Lake Royale Louisburg, NC 27549

Weird xl mem-set behavior
Hello, I''m struggling to handle the amount of memory that dom0 gets on some system. It''s a system with 8GB of RAM, running 2.6.38-6 with pv_ops and Xen 4.1 If I want to set the amount of memory for dom0, I get very bogus results. See here: http://pastebin.com/gRgY9ERN If I use the M notation (xl mem-set 0 4096M) the outcome is similarily unpredictable, and sometimes I get the

[PATCH] Make "xm mem-set" be lower bound on domX-min-mem
This patch causes "xm mem-set" to be lower bound on domX-min-mem option in xend-config. Another configuration option called domU-min-mem has been introduced, which works similarly to dom0-min-mem. This is prevents users from freezing the system when doing "xm mem-set" on very low values like 32M. Signed-off-by: Aravindh Puthiyaparambil

Sharing RAM between VM
Hi, all! I have a server with 4 virtual machines ( using xen). Is there a way to make them share RAM? I found out something about balloons, but it didn't distribute RAM dynamically. So I decided that xen can't achieve that. I tried luci and ricci and now all my VMs are in a cluster. But I don't think this actually helped. Can you suggest a software and/or manual or a question which I

mtrr error
I need your help and DEL's tech support doesn't provide any help on this one. We have a lot of different type of DELL desktops from old-type hyper-thread cpu, to dual-core and quad-core cpus (most are Xeons). We run all versions of CentOS, but most are latest 5.5 (also up-to-date) and are very happy about that. The primary software on those Linux systems is IDL, which uses OpenGL

[Off Topic, kind of] eMachine model T5254
Hi list, Best Buy currently has an eMachine on sale for less than $300.00 without monitor. I didn't see any recent complaints on www.consumeraffairs.com. I didn't take the time to do a thourgh search so may have missed some. Red Hat hardware list does not have one eMachine listed. I went to eMachine's home page and found the following: AMD Athlon? BE-2350 dual-core processor NVIDIA?

Drives Not Recognized on Dell Poweredge 1550 CentOs4 install
I have a new (used)Dell Poweredge 1550 server with 2 scsi drives (dual 1ghz w/ 2048MB) that I'm attempting to install CentOs 4 onto and am having problems getting the darn thing to recognize the hard drives. (it's worth noting that it's running RAID 0 and the RAID bios recognizes both drives as being in "optimal" state). I start the installation process and all is going

Recent MAC improvements
Hi, There has been some recent work to improve the speed of the Message Authentication Codes (MACs) that are used in OpenSSH. The first improvement is a change from Markus Friedl to reuse the MAC context, rather than reinitialising it for every packet. This saves two calls to the underlying hash function (e.g. SHA1) for each packet. My tests found that this yielded at 12-16% speedup for bulk

Hi guys, i''ve just installed xen 4.0. Since always blktapctl has never worked on my dell 1950III. I even posted a bug but so far i can''t use tap:aio or similar. I thought that with version 4 this would work, but it didn''t. I still see syslog errors from blktap version 1.0.0. Today i wanted to try version 2 I found on the xen/tools source folder.
