AOE (Ata over ethernet) troubles on xen 2.0.6
I understand that all work is going into xen3, but I had wanted to note
that aoe (drivers/block/aoe) is giving me trouble on xen 2.0.6 (so we
can keep and eye on xen3).
Specifically I can''t see nor export AOE devices. As a quick background
on AOE, it is not IP (not routable, etc), but works with broadcasts and
packets to MAC addresses (see http://www.coraid.com).

Two-node cluster often hanging in o2hb/jdb2
Hi,
I'm pretty new to ocfs2 and a bit stuck. I have two Debian/Squeeze
(testing) machines accessing an ocfs2 filesystem over aoe. The
filesystem sits on an lvm2 volume, but I guess that is irrelevant.
Even when mostly idle, everything accessing the cluster sometimes hangs
for about 20 seconds. This happens rather frequently, say every 5
minutes, but the interval seems irregular while the

1/2 OFF-TOPIC: How to use CLVM (on top AoE vblades) instead just plain LVM for Xen based VMs on Debian 5.0?
Guys,
I have setup my hard disc with 3 partitions:
1- 256MB on /boot;
2- 2GB on / for my dom0 (Debian 5.0) (eth0 default bridge for guests LAN);
3- 498GB exported with vblade-persist to my network (eth1 for the AoE
protocol).
On dom0 hypervisor01:
vblade-persist setup 0 0 eth1 /dev/sda3
vblade-persist start all

lenny amd64 and xen.
I''ve installed debian lenny amd64, it is frozen now.
I''ve install kernel for xen support but it doesn''t start.
It says "you need to load kernel first" but I''ve installed all the packages
concerning xen, also packages related to the kernel.
Perhaps lenny doesn''t support xen anymore?
Any solution?

Floating Point Exception
I have a Fedora Core server running:
Fedora Core release 4 (Stentz)
kernel version: 2.6.15-1.1833_FC4smp
( I have also tried kernel version: 2.6.16-1.2108_FC4smp)
I compiled the ocfs2 and ocfs2-tools using the following steps:
# MODULES:
tar zxvpf ocfs2-1.2.1.tar.gz
cd ocfs2-1.2.1
./configure
make
make install
# TOOLS:
tar zxf ocfs2-tools-1.2.1.tar.gz
cd ocfs2-tools-1.2.1

[Bridge] aoe/vblade on "localhost"
hello !
i try to use a network technology on one single host, which wasn`t designed for that.
to give a short overview of what i`m talking about:
AoE is just like a "networked blockdevice" (just like nbd/enbd) - but without tcp/ip.
AoE kernel driver is the "client end" (see this like an iSCSI initiator) - and an etherblade storage appliance is the "server end"

fixes for quota support on NetBSD
Hi!
dovecot-2.2.13 already has quota support for NetBSD, but it's buggy.
The attached patches by Manuel Bouyer <bouyer at NetBSD.org> fix the
issues.
There is one thing that's not nice in them: one include is now for
"/usr/include/quota.h" since dovecot comes with its own file "quota.h"
which is earlier in the search path. Perhaps dovecot's copy can be

R-alpha: model.matrix misbehaves on two-sided formulas
I am using R for a graduate class on linear models that I teach. I
sent the class a sample transcript of explicit construction of the
model matrix and use of the QR decomposition. One of the members of
the class picked up on the fact that the model matrix was not what I
advertised that it should be when a two-sided formula is used. A
one-sided formula works properly. For example,

xen / AOE / vblade
I ran into an interesting/strange issue today. I still don''t understand
what happened, but in know what fixed it.
I had a situation where I could only see vblade exported devices from OFF
the physical machine. It seemed that if the packets went through two ports
of the bridge (instead of one port and the real interface) they got
"lost".
I sniffed around and failed to

Looking for tips about Physical Migration on XEN
Hi people.
Im new on Xen and I''m looking in how to do a physical migration on Xen. I
know that there is a lot of choices (that is the first problem)
My environment is simple:
2 physical servers, each one running one instance of XEN. Each host has 2
gigabit cards. One to talk with the world, other to talk between
theirselves.
I want to run the every vm on the both hosts, if one fail

VM node won't talk to host
I am trying to mount the same partition from a KVM ubuntu 8.04.1 virtual
machine and on an ubuntu 8.04.1 host server.
I am able to mount the partition just on fine on two ubuntu host servers, they
both talk to each other. The logs on both servers show the other machine
mounting and unmounting the drive.
However, when I mount the drive in the KVM VM I get no communication to the
host

Aoe or iScsi???
Hi people...
Here we use Xen 4 with Debian Lenny... We''re using kernel 2.6.31.13
pvops...
As a storage system, we use AoE devices...
So, we installed VM''s on AoE partition... The "NAS" server is a Intel
based baremetal with SATA hard disc...
However, sometime I feeling that VM''s is so slow...
Also, all VM has GPLPV drivers installed...
So, I am thing about

Filesystem too large...
I need to setup a 3.27TB ext3 filesystem using -i 1024 and -b 1024.
When I try to format this partition I get the "Filesystem too large."
error. Are there any plans to update these limits? are there any
patches already available that I can try out? Or am I just SOL here?

Xvd Problem
We recently added a disk to our Coraid SAN. We''ve used tons of
devices off of this SAN with Xen before, but this time we experienced
some weird behavior.
I configured a DomU to have the device directly offered as a disk
(i.e. ''phy/dev/etherd/e1.1,sdb1,rw''). When I tried to boot it, an
xvd process showed up as usual. However, it consumed 100% processor

Cisco gateways and hairpinning
Hello:
Has anyone on this list had to configure hairpinning on a Cisco
gateway running IOS 12.2 or 12.3 and using a PRI for connectivity
to the PSTN? If so could you tell me how it is done? I'm told this
is the source of my call transfer problems and yet I cannot find
clear instructions for how the configuration is done.
Thanks,Steve

dom0 crash while booting from AOE devices
Hello,
I have encountered a crash in dom0 kernel while booting a domU from an AOE
device. I haven''t seen such crashes when booting from local partitions/ LVM
volumes/ loopback file systems. Also I haven''t seen such crash when I did
repetitive I/O to these AOE devices. As the call trace of crash indicates
the crash is in xenolinux kernel. Also this crash is predictably

LVM over Xen + Network
Hi,
We are planning to have LVM being used over a network of 3 h/w machines(500
GB Disk each)
Each hardware machine will have 2-3 domUs.
Can we store these domUs as a Logical Volumes stored across Network of these
3 machines?
Can one DomU exceed the 500 GB (physical drive size) and store say 1 TB of
data across the networked Physical Volumes?
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks and regards,
