Session problem mongrel behind Apache proxy
Hi, I''ve configured mongrel_clusters behind an Apache 2.2 proxy using named virtual host. Session are saved as ActiveRecordSession. But the cookies created on client side doesn''t correspond to session data saved in database (keys are different). The RoR app react just like it doesn''t have a session at all. If I don''t use Apache as a proxy/load balancer

multiple mongrel clusters
If this was in the docs, I''ve missed it. How can I have multiple mongrel clusters on a server? All the documentation that I am seeing seems to assume that I am only running one cluster.

Multiple rails apps with Mongrel
I''m trying to set up several different Rails apps on the same domain, each one running Mongrel. After reading all of the documentation, it''s fairly clear how to use subdomains - create several Apache virtual hosts, each of which has a different ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse command to redirect from different ports (ie, 3000, 3100), and then have each Mongrel instance (or

mod_proxy, mongrel, redirect issue
Hello, I am configuring apache 2.2 to serve my rails app through mongrel at the root of my server. First, I redirect all http traffic to https with the following: ServerName emiliano NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> RedirectPermanent / https://emiliano #this server is only accessed internally </VirtualHost> Inside the <VirtualHost *:443> section, I have the following

memcached and fragment storage, session storage with a mongrel cluster
Greetings, I posted this not on the Rails mailing list and didn''t get a definitive response so I thought I''d post it here, since I figure lots of you are using mongrel with Rails apps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I''ve been using file-based fragment caching and DB-based session caching quite extensively. I decided to try out memcached for both to

trying to add another app
hey all, I have an app working great with apache2 and mongrel_cluster. However, I''m trying to run another application and now when I go to app1.comit falls to app2.com and the opposite. That''s probably because I messed up somewhere with the cluster. this is the content of my conf.d/app1.proxy_cluster.conf: <Proxy balancer://mongrel_cluster> BalancerMember

Apache 2.2, ProxyPass and HTTPS
Hi all, I''m currently trying to get Mongrel running my app whilst fronted by apache 2.2 in a sub-directory via https. A bit convoluted I''ll grant you but necessitated by existing systems. The pertinent parts of my httpd.conf: <VirtualHost 123.123.123.123:12345> #historic choice of random port number DocumentRoot /var/www/admin ServerName admin.example.com:12345

mongrel cluster (+ Apache 2.2.4 + proxy balancer) not redirecting correctly
I''m in the process of setting up a mongrel cluster at the moment, and I''m running into a bit of an issue. Even worse is that I''m not sure whether this is a mongrel thing, or an Apache thing. While I''m inclined to think that this might be a balancer thing, I decided there was a higher chance hearing back from mongrel-users than from apache-users, so I''d

Apache, Mongrel, Authentication
A question about mongrel, apache and authentication. I''ve got a Rails site with I think a very typical setup: a mongrel cluster behind an Apache proxy. So Apache''s handling the static stuff and it hands off dynamic content to mongrel. I want to put the site temporarily behind Apache''s basic authentication. What I get when I do this is that is a password prompt which

Rails + Apache2 + Balancer Manager - PHP doesn't work
Hi I have a Debian Server and I managed that Ruby works with Apache2 and the Balancer Manager that listen to the Mongrel server. The Problem is that PHP files don''t work anymore. How do I have to configurate the Balance Manager that PHP is working again like without the Balance Manager? Greetings Andi -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Deploying in subdir w/ Apache and Mongrel
Hi all, I have been searching for the past 2 or 3 days on how to deploy my rails apps within subdirectories (ie: http://www.domain.com/myapp or even domain.com/rails/myapp) and have found a few tutorials, but all have left something out it seems. I would like to do this rather than http://myapp.domain.com/ since it will be usd internally and I have no real direct access to dns to make the

Apache 2.2.3 setup woes
Good morning everyone, I am running apache 2.2.3 compiled from source and proxy load balancer as described on the mongrel site. I have a total of three sites, this setup works really well for two of them but for one of them, I keep getting "Forbidden" errors and this error in the apache logs: [warn] proxy: No protocol handler was valid for the URL /. If you are using a DSO version of

(no subject)
Hi everybody, We are developing several applications on a single server and I''m looking for a way to use mongrel with each of them. Right now, http://testapp.com/ is being served on that machine through apache and mongrel. Here''s what a part of my apache config looks like: <Proxy balancer balancer://testappcluster> BalancerMember http://127.0.0.1:8000

mod_proxy_balancer mod_rewrite permission issue
I started the mongrel_cluster and tried to use the RewriteRule to forward the requests to proxy_balancer just as the http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/apache.html said. When I visited my site from a remote computer, I always got the error messages "Forbidden, You don''t have permission to access / on this server." Finally, I added the "Allow from all" property (in the

[somewhat OT] Apache config for Rails + ColdFusion + PHP
Our group has several web apps developed in ColdFusion, PHP, and Rails. The ColdFusion and PHP apps are on an older server, and the Rails apps on a new server. Ideally, we''d like them all to share the same server. Our current setup for the Rails server is Apache2.2 with mod_proxy_balancer and mongrel_cluster. We''d like to have specific directories be processed and served by

Mongrel stops responding after period of inactivity
Hi I posted this to the Ruby on Rails Talk group but I thought I''d post it here too as it''s probably a more appropriate group. Hope this is ok. I''m running a 2-instance Mongrel cluster behind Apache 2.2.4 with Rails 1.2.3. If no requests are received by the application for several hours (this usually happens overnight) then Mongrel stops responding and no requests are
