Hello,
I have a subscriptions model and a ''new'' action in subscriptions
controller to create new subscription. Also, I have a ''thankyou'' view,
which I want to display only if user is just subscribed. So I want to

ActionController <-> ActiveView code access ambiguity
Hi All!
This is not a problem in general but i''ve just missed the point.
If my application has a global state, which i have to use both
throughout ActionController and ActiveView, then, where to place that
state?
E.g. if I do this:
class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base
protected
def authenticated?
!user.nil?
end
end
then I can''t use that from any

Subversion and tmp directory in Rails 1.1 project
Hello everyone!
I''m thinking of the right way to store tmp/ directory of Rails 1.1
project in Subversion. It has cache, session and sockets
subdirectories. To me, it looks good to have
svn delete tmp/*
svn propset svn:ignore "*" tmp
So it will ignore all directories and files in tmp/. Even if you
create sessions/ and put some files in it, tmp/ content is still
ignored.
But

ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches "/say/hello" with {:method=>:get}):
Hello:
I have found a whole lot of posts on this, however, none of them offer
any sort of solution other than restarting the web server, which I
can''t imagine everyone out there developing on Rails is doing.
I am on page 40 of Agile Development with Rails 3rd edition and trying
to get the missing template error to show but until I restart webrick
I only get the following:

Fixtures Max Size? SystemStackError: stack level too deep
Hello,
I have a table of zipcodes that I am using in my application, so there
are approximately 50,000 rows in this table. I have dumped the table to
a fixture yaml file to represent this data, but when I try to load it, I
get this error: SystemStackError: stack level too deep
Is there a max size allowed for a fixture file..?
Here is the --trace output:
rake db:fixtures:load --trace

Clearing out filters in ActionController
I want to run a single filter in my application.rb file, and then if a
certain condition is true, end the action''s processing immediately.
Right now I''m using prepend_before_filter to ensure that it gets run
first, but some of my around_filters are still being processed. Is
there a way that I can clear out all the filters that should be run?
Basically it''ll look

How can I do this? I dig around for validation and tried
def after_validation_on_update
unless User.find_by_login(:login)
errors.add(:login, "is immutable. You can''t change it")
