ACM Software Copyright and License Agreement
ACM Software Copyright and License Agreement I have often seen the use of routines from the ACM Collected Algorithms, i.e. <netlib.org/toms/> (CALGO, or Trans. On Math. Software, TOMS), in Open Source programs, maybe also in some R packages --- and sometimes these programs are distributed under the GPL license, sometimes under proprietary licenses, e.g. in Scilab. The use of these CALGO

declaring GPL license
Hi all, I'm currently writing an R package and want to declare a GPL2 license. According to the license agreement, I'm supposed to display: "This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation ... See the GNU General Public License for more details."

License agreement
Hello, I plan to create a commercial software that would automate the running of a few IT security tools and build a nice report, in order to help security auditors in their work. I saw your smbclient tool that could be really appropriate. As this tool is GPL'd, I would like to make sure you agree with the usage (running and parsing) I plan. Of course, should you have any requirement (e.g.

Questions about License and so on.
Hello there. I'm seeing with a third party library vendor, wich creates components for signal and audio processing for Delphi and BCB, the way to integrate support for OggVorbis, but there are some license issues that I don't know/understand. In plain text: can he create and distribute a component that uses the code available in the Windows SDK, either in the DLL presentation and/or

License of Port3 library for R
I developed some code that called subroutines from the Port3 Library (http://www-out.bell-labs.com/project/PORT/). I?m thinking about making it available as an R package. But I?m not sure if their NON-EXCLUSIVE SOURCE CODE LICENSE AGREEMENT ( http://www-out.bell-labs.com/topic/swdist/licenses/nesource.txt ) permits this. I tried contacting the contact person listed on the website. Not

RFC #2: Improving license & patent issues in the LLVM community
Hello everyone, This email is a continuation of a discussion from almost a year ago, started back here: http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2015-October/091536.html As described in that email, this is a complicated topic and deals with sensitive legal issues. I am not a lawyer, and this email is not intended to be legal advice in the formal sense. That said, I have spoken with many

Sweave and license message when loading mclust package
When loading mclust, it shows a license agreement message. This message shows up in my document when I use Sweave. I did the following: <<echo=FALSE,include=FALSE>>= library(mclust) @ Is this a problem with mclust, Sweave or with me? How can it be fixed? Thanks for any suggestions! Titus

Annoying license at install
Folks I have several remotely-located servers, donated by folks not all of whom are computer geeks, let-alone Linux aware. In earlier versions of Centos, I directed them to perform a minimal NetInstall (not too difficult to direct over the phone), and then issue two commands after the first boot. One was a 'curl' to download a script of mine, and the second was a dot-command to run

RFC: Improving license & patent issues in the LLVM community
Hi Everyone, I’d like to start a discussion about how to improve some important issues we have in the LLVM community, regarding our license and patent policy. Before we get started, I’d like to emphasize that *this is an RFC*, intended for discussion. There is no time pressure to do something fast here -- we want to do the right long-term thing for the community (though we also don’t want

Wine license
Please be patient and read this... Can AJ please change the license of the wine-launcher (like mono does)? You can still keep the libraries under LGPL. Please note proprietary is not bad and no oss w/o proprietary... You can make WINE a standard of binaries because of competition of Linux/BSD/Solaris binaries. It would be good for OS developers if you Change the license of the WINE launcher.

Samba Team Asks Novell to Reconsider
