The generator creates a scaffold page like the typical rails one, except adding, editing and deleting are all done inline. The generated scaffold is valid XHTML strict and fully styled right out of the box. Check out the demo: http://ajaxscaffold.height1percent.com/ And the how-to:

to ajax or not to ajax
before I started building my latest rails app, I made the decision to make good use of ajax. My reasonsing was that users would benefit from the quicker page updates - the application provides various different types of insurance quotes, and has several multi-page forms and reports that can be drilled down 5 or 6 levels deep in some cases - so it seemed like a good candidate for ajax Now

Ajas Scaffolding and RJS Templates the same thing?
Hey all, I''m just starting in rails and am working on my first app. I need to do inline editing for 2-15 rows of data on a page. I found Ajax Scaffolding here: http://www.ajaxscaffold.com/ And it is EXACTLY what I want in my app. But I''ve also been trying to read a bit up on RJS Templates. Are they basically the same things except RJS is built into rails or is the

Rails File Upload w/ Ajax Update?
I''m trying to upload a file, display the upload progress and then update a table with the newly uploaded file. Is there a way to specify a :success handler for form_tag_with_upload_progress such that I have access to the request.response data (in the way I can with link_to_remote)? The :finish JavaScript is being executed but because there is no request object, the table

rails equivalent to symfony admin generator?
I''m an experienced PHP programmer (don''t know Ruby yet), and I''m playing around with Symfony (PHP MVC framework similar to Rails) and I found myself asking if there''s really any reason to use it over Rails. From what I''ve seen just about every feature in Rails is superior except one very important thing - Symfony''s admin generator. This is

Validation with AJAX; how to DRY validation?
What are some good ways of doing validation with AJAX in Rails (with Prototype/Scriptaculous)? I have some Ajax.InPlaceEditors, and I would like the page with the editors on it to display errors if the data given is e.g. too short, too long, wrong format... Ideally, this should be DRY in regard to the validators. A related question: is there any way of DRY between the database table field

Ajax scaffolding respones are received, but not rendered in browser
Hi i installed the latest ajaxscaffolding gem and generated a scaffold. List works fine. Delete deletes, but the update doesn''t show and the busy icon spins indefinitely. Pressing new or edit also causes the busy icon to spin, but again the ui doesn''t update. my development.log indicates the request was handled and (using firebug) I''m seeing this response: new

A Stylesheet for a database app
Hi to all, I''m a new subscriber of this list and a new user of RoR. I''m looking for a stylesheet to make a simple database app nicer, a css to start working with. I have to do some simple apps and I want them to be the more uniform on the presentation side. I know I can do it for myself, but a nice stylesheet is not so easy to perform for a non-grafic geek like me, and so

AJAX form inside table - error
Hello, I need to put an AJAX, form such that it is inside a table, and spans across few rows. But, what I am noticing is that, while submitting the form, the data in the fields is not submitted. If I move the form outside the table or inside a cell, things work OK, but not when the form is inside the table and spans few rows. This problem is only with AJAX forms, regular forms work perfect. NOOB Ajax question: handling form input
Hi, I was trying to modify how a standard edit form works so I could use Ajax to truncate a zip code field which became too long as the user is entering the value. The form was generated by the generate scaffold script. The form is filled with default data taken from the current record. I coded the following changes to a field in the _form.rhtml file: <%= text_field
