Ferret-0.11.4-rc5 released
Hey folks, I''ve just put another release up. I''ve mostly just fixed some stability and memory leak issues. The most notable change is the probably the addition of a win32 gem to make life a little easier for all those Windows users out there. Also, I''ve added an index browser. Just try running; > ferret-browser path/to/index and then visit;

FerretDonors page added to wiki
Hey folks, I''ve just added a FerretDonors page to the Wiki (for those interested we have raised $3915 to date). Currently it just has a list of donors but I would like to add links for each donor to their personal and/or business websites. This is something I should have done a long time ago. I''d love to hear any suggestions as to how I can better recognize these

Away for a week
Hey folks, I''m off to Vietnam for a week on my way home to Australia so I''ll be off the list for a while. Don''t think I''m ignoring you. When I get back I intend to aggressively hunt down the segfault problem that some of you are having in Ferret so that problem will soon be ancient history. If anyone can narrow down a test case that can consistently segfault it

Ferret 0.9.0-alpha (port of Apache Lucene to pure ruby)
Hi Folks, I''ve just released version 0.9.0. This latest version of Ferret is an alpha release. I have removed the old c extension and Ferret is now running on a fully ported C library. This has allowed some huge performance improvements both with regard to memory and CPU usage. There will probably be a few portability issues to start with. It has been developed on Linux so it should

I''m back
Hey all, I''m back. Some of you are probably thinking that is the longest weeks vacation on record. Well, I''d like to take this opportunity to apologise for my absence and offer a brief explanation. When I got back to Australia I naturally went home to visit my parents, only to find that they have been hit really hard by the drought. They didn''t really tell me just how

CentOS 5 is done, now it's time to donate!
CentOS 5 is great! Job well done! Please *consider* making a donation to the project, if you can, to reward the developers and keep them motivated. That way we can be assured of getting CentOS 6! I used the "Donate Now" link on the CentOS home page -- it was really easy! -Jim

Donate NVS 510 and 310 cards
Hi, I have some spare Nvidia NVS 310 cards (with two DP1.2 outputs) and at least one NVS 510 (four DP1.2 outputs). Would any Nouveau developer like to accept some as a donation? -- Ed Avis <eda at waniasset.com>

The Wiki "Donate" Page.
With reference to the "Donate" page [1], I see that the very first sentence reads --
The CentOS Project is based a foundation of the efforts of volunteers.
On two separate occasions I have come across those words and thought "Huh?". Granted I can change them but, not knowing the current (?legal?) set-up of the Project, I've decided to leave that sentence

Donate NVS 510 and 310 cards
I'm in Europe (at least until the 23rd...) so let me know your address. My motivation is to get them working reliably under Fedora 23 x86 to drive a Dell UP2414Q 4k monitor, where currently my father's PC is experiencing regular freezes. So if you would like the loan of a UP2414Q monitor to go with the cards, let me know too. (The UP2414Q is an interesting monitor to drive since it

how to donate software to R community
hi all, We have developed a software called HCBA (Highly Consumable Business Analytics) using R as modelling engine. We now want to donate the whole software (R serves only as modelling engine in this project. There are other core functions.) to the R community and open-source it. But we don't know what the approach is in order to contribute HCBA. We have looked through the official R

how do I donate resources to xiph.org?
I sent the first version of this email to webmaster@xiph.org yesterday (as instructed on the www.xiph.org web site), but I have not received any reply. So I'm trying vorbis-dev list. I've joined the list only a few weeks ago as soon as I became aware of the project. I searched through your web site, but I could not see any instruction on how to donate resources (money, hw, etc.) to the

Ferret progress update
Hi folks, Just thought I better let you all know that I''m still working on the next release of Ferret. I''ve been working the last 7 days doing nothing but Ferret development. The last iteration generated a diff of almost 5000 lines so there are some pretty major changes. Most people won''t notice these changes however as the API remains unchanged. But if you were having

Ferret is now accepting donations
Hey folks, Since this is the Ferret mailing list I should preface this by that the donation of time and help by people like Jens Kraemer, Jan Prill and all the other people who have contributed to Ferret is just as valuable to me as any financial assistance. Thanks. Ferret has been a labour of love but it has taken up a lot more of my life than I ever expected. At in excess of 50,000 lines of
