patch enabling serial (tty) support
Folks,
First, let me thank everyone involved for making QEMU available on the
Solaris platform. It''s turning out to be really handy....
Here at work we''re required to use GroupWise calendaring (at least for
the time being), and I''m trying to get a bit more organized, so thought
I''d start (again) using a Palm handheld to take my calendar, etc. with me.

Wine and the serial port
I have an application that talks to hardware via the serial port.
(Actually, it talks to a lot of hardware, banking peripherals). The app
runs on both Win32 and OS/2.
Of course, the main theme is porting the thing natively to linux (and I'm
working on that). But just for fun I tried to get it to work with WINE, and
while the "device emulation" works perfectly (much to my

[PATCH] Switch to poll in xenconsoled's io loop.
The original implementation utilies select(). In Linux select() typically
supports up to 1024 file descriptors. This can be a problem when user tries to
boot up many guests. Switching to poll() has minimum impact on existing code
and has better scalibility.
Up to 8192 file descriptors are supported in the current implementation.

Fwd: Re: Asterisk as a Condo door opener/intercom
Asterisk as a phone system makes perfect sense in a condo. You can get
all the DID's you want and eliminate costs for the owners. You can offer
standard FXO for people who don't care and IP sets for people who want
to "upgrade" to feature sets.
Your door openner is a piece of cake.

context that reads

[PATCH 0/5] Split virt-p2v in own repository
Hi,
as it was already discussed on this list, here it is my attempt in
splitting virt-p2v in an own repository. Sadly there are things that
must be copied from libguestfs, as it cannot be avoided.
The approach taken was to run a script (will send separately) to just
get the "p2v" subdirectory with its history as own repository, and then
add in few followup commits all the bits needed

Samba - Unix password sync
Hi,
in the last weeks I've unsuccessfully tried to get Samba (2.0.5a) -
Unix (Suse 6.2) password sync working. Maybe somebody can give me a
hint, what's wrong. Enclosed you'll find additional information.
Thank you for helping,
Johannes

COM32 module: Read-Only shell
Well, here's the read-only shell (rosh) that I've been working on.
It's functional but still quite rough. My primary intention of
posting it at this time is such that people have an easy way to
demonstrate to themselves that the library calls I made work.
This should apply as a patch to the head of the "dir" branch and the
patch for c_cflag/c_lflag. The patch is only

xvm-gate: arrow keys broken in pygrub
One of my test domUs is a opensuse 10.3 PV domain, and it
has a /boot/grub/menu.lst file. pygrub is used as bootloader.
With xVM 3.1.4, the arrow keys can be used in the pygrub screen.
With xVM 3.3-unstable, the arrow keys don''t work for me any more.
What I''ve found out so far is that:
- gnome-terminal, xterm or dtterm are running with

Long awaited round 1 of NeXT patches.
This is about 90% of the core work. I omited a few files from the patch
set since they are basicly small blocks of #ifndef HAVE_NEXT/#endif to
get it to compile.
Daimen, feel free to let me know what you applied and what your
rejecting and why.. so I can work on cleaning things up.
Andre, Only thing of note you may want to look into is NeXT does not
use "ut_user" in it's lastlog.

[PATCH] Drop two useless HAVE_CYGWIN
Hi,
the below patch removes two special cases for Cygwin, which are already
superfluous for a good while.
- openbsd-compat/bsd-openpty.c: Since openpty() is implemented in Cygwin
now, the bsd-openpty.c code just isn't build into OpenSSH on Cygwin.
So the Cygwin special case is useless.
- When building OpenSSH for Cygwin, the minires-devel package (development
package for the special

Race condition on parallel package's mcexit and rmChild
I've been hacking with parallel package for some time and built a
parallel processing framework with it. However, although very rarely,
I did notice "ignoring SIGPIPE signal" error every now and then.
After a deep dig into the source code, I think I found something worth
noticing.
In short, wring to pipe in the C function mc_exit(SEXP sRes) may cause
a SIGPIPE. Code from

Error with USE_POSIX_THREADS and OpenSSH-3.8p1
Hello,
I am using OpenSSH-3.8p1 on HP-UX machine with USE_POSIX_THREADS option.
This is for making the kerberos credentials file to be created in the system
with PAM. In OpenSSH versions 3.5 when authentication is done with pam
kerberos, a /tmp/krb5cc_X_Y file is created on the server side. But the
KRB5CCNAME variable is not set by default. So, after we manually set this
environment variable, the
