Error with Ruby 1.8.6
Hi,
I just upgraded to Ruby 1.8.6 on my Mac development machine and
here''s what I''m seeing when I try to run mongrel (I have the latest
version of mongrel + fastthread installed). It seems to be an OS/X
thing, because this same combo works fine on our Linux server.
Here''s the error, have you guys seen anything like this?:

I''m not exactly sure what the root of this problem is. I followed the
following tutuorial on installing Ruby on Rails on Mac OS X:

Everything is working fine but when I navigate to :

IRB error message (dyld: NSLinkModule() error)
Hi folks,
I''m new to Rails. I picked up Simply Rails 2 by Patrick Lenz a few weeks
ago and I finally sat down to get stuck into it. I have Rails installed
on my iMac (OS X Leopard) and I can load up the Rails Welcome screen at
localhost:3000 without any issues.
My problem is with running IRB within Terminal.
If I try to run:
irb> 1
I receive the error:

Help understanding behavior of apply vs sapply
Hi,
I was surprised that apply and sapply don't return the same results in
the example below. Can someone tell me what I'm missing?

> m <- matrix(0, nrow=2, ncol=2)
> apply(m, 1, zls)
character(0)
> sapply(m, zls)

atan2(1,1i)
Hi
?atan2 says that atan2(y,x)=atan(y/x) for x and y numeric or complex
vectors.
Well, I would expect atan2(1,1i) to be equal to atan(-1i), but

Webrick and Lighttpd
I just went thru the hivelogic article to get everything installed on my
new mac. I then decided to run thru the ADC Rails article. In the
article it says to run ''script/server'' which will start lighttpd if
installed or webrick if not. When I do it, I get webrick not lighttpd. I
followed the hivelogic article word for word and everything else seems
to be working fine. Is

tagged 0.0.37; release plans
Hi
I just tagged 0.0.37 in Subversion. I also added a note on the Wiki on
how to do this, and how to checkout a clean version:
http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Release_HowTo
For the build, I''m just about to upload a tarball, and will add a
powerpc gem once the compiler''s chugged away. Please upload for your
platform as you''re ready.
I suggest we announce

mysql-5.0.41 and mysql native gem
Has anyone else had problems with the mysql native gem when using
MySQL 5.0.41. It appears that this version of MySQL has moved some
depended library files. I rolled back to MySQL 5.0.37 and all seems
to be working now. But, just wanted to know if anyone else has
experienced this issue.

Ruby/LDAP on Rails
This is wierd. I''m trying to get Ruby/LDAP up and working, and at least
the basics work fine under irb:
irb(main):001:0> require ''ldap''
=> true
irb(main):002:0> LDAP::Conn.new()
=> #<LDAP::Conn:0x1b87ac>
irb(main):003:0>
So far, so good. All LDAP::Conn.new does is call ldap_init with host
and port parameters, which in turn just allocates the

Where''s Ruby? Too many Ruby interpreters on OS X.
I seem to have two versions of Ruby on my PowerBook. I have been learning
RoR and walked through the online scripted install of Ruby and Rails several
weeks ago before I really understood what was going on.
If I open Terminal and type:
ruby -v
I get back:
ruby 1.8.4 (2005-12-24) [powerpc-darwin8.5.0]
So that looks fine, but I don''t know where my Ruby interpreter is located. I

Installation on OSX...
Hi,
Just got my first Mac. I''m trying to install rails on it, using the
instructions in the rails wiki:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoInstallOnOSXTigerUsingDarwinPorts
I go to install mysql, and the version of mysql supported by
DarwinPorts appears to be 4.1.18. But all the sites appear to only
have 4.1.19 or 4.1.20. So it looks like DarwinPorts is over a month
