pci passthrough question. Do I need VT-D ?
Hi,
I really need help. I spent 2 days already on this pci passthrough thing.
I''m using Xen 3.2.1 with Centos 5.2 64 bits on intel VT. I''d like to
use PCI passthrough and I don''t think I need VT-D functionality.
I''m trying to pass PCI 12:01.0 to my domU guest.
I got this error when I use "xm create /etc/xen/hvm_centos_2.cfg"

Need some clarifications regarding VT-d requirements for PCI passthrough in Xen 4.1
Hello,
I am looking into building a workstation using Xen to host several operating
systems.
Looking at the pci passthrough requirements of Xen4.1 on the
VTdHowTo<http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/VTdHowTo>page, I am a
little puzzled with the fact that only Intel Core2Duo (with
VT-x), Core2Quad, i7 and Core i5 (vPro Brand) CPU''s are supported while
motherboards with the i55x0

PCI Passthrough using GART on AMD CPUs?
Hey everyone,
I realize that people asking about PCI passthrough has been thoroughly beaten to
death many a time, however I couldn''t find the answer to these questions
anywhere (and I''d really like to know :P) so please just bare with me.
I know the GART built into AMD chipsets can act as a "mini IOMMU" and do DMA
translation but not protection/isolation. However,

PCI passthrough error
Hi folks,
Has anyone encountered the following PCI passthrough error?
error: internal error Process exited while reading console \

It's produced after I've detached the PCI device from the base OS and
have tried to start up the guest domain.

PCI Passthrough
I'm trying to pass-through my VGA card to a guest session.
I found: http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/How_to_assign_devices_with_VT-d_in_KVM - which is very frustrating because there's no date on the documentation. I suspect it's old. It does clearly say that you must have VT-d support for pci pass-through. It then goes on to say "Some work towards allowing this ["software

pci-passthrough nic but no link
I hope someone can enlighten me.
I have a quad-port Intel 82580 nic (igb driver) on my system and I''d like to
dedicate each nic to a HVM via VT-d PCI passthrough. The IOMMU on my system
seems to work, I can assign the PCI devices to my HVMs. The HVMs see the
pci device and load their respective igb drivers, and ethtool -i eth0 works
on each HVM, shows the drivers are loaded and the

PCI Passthrough not working
Further to my messages back in May I have at last got round to trying to get my DomU to recognise USB devices.
I am using Xen 4.6 with CentOS kernel 3.18.34-20.el7.x86_64.
I have to manually make the port available before creating the DomU by issuing the command:
xl pci-assignable-add 00:1a.0
otherwise nothing shows in:
xl pci-assignable-list
I have added this to my .cfg file as per the

PCI passthrough of cciss HBA
All,
I would like to run the following issue past the list to confirm that my
problem analysis makes sense or whether I missed something:
We have a HP ML370G6 server with VT-x and VT-d enabled in the BIOS. It is
equipped with two Smart Array HBAs - one connected to the HDD array
(SmartArray P800) and one connected to an LTO tape drive (SmartArray
P212). Both controllers use the same driver

Simple Query on PCI passthrough I/O
Hi,
I want to perform pass through I/O from my domU. I guess I would need an
additional network card for the same.
Is there any preference on the second network card I should get or any one
is fine? I have a x86_64 machine
with Cent OS 4.4 running. Are there any additional considerations that I
cannot see - Kindly let me know.
Thanks,
Asim

[RFC][PATCH 4/6] HVM PCI Passthrough (non-IOMMU)
int.patch:
- Supports only level-triggered interrupts. Edge interrupts support
will be
added shortly (should be fairly simple)
- Change polarity trick: in order to reflect the external device''s
assertion
state, the ioapic pin gets its polarity changed whenever an
interrupt
occur. So an interrupt is generated when the _external_ line is
asserted

pci passthrough under xen-3.3 without VT-d
Hi all!
I''m hoping someone here might be able to help. I''m familiar with several UNIX''es, though farily new to Linux...
I''m running RHEL 5.2. I''ve got the RHEL kernel headers installed, etc, and compiled xen-3.3.
Once that was built, I rebuilt libvirt, etc, the kernel, and all the modules. The whole mess boots and runs fine... mostly.

qemu/kvm: support for pci passthrough
Hi,
I saw there was an active discussion about pci passthrough support in
KVM. I'm not a Dev, only a sys admin that need this support. As i saw
on the KVM home page that this feature is plan for 2H2008 in the
roadmap, I wondered if you already have a more precise time frame for
this release? Xen already have this feature but for the rest i prfer
