x86: clear_IO_APIC_pin() and SMI delivery mode
clear_IO_APIC_pin() ignores entries that are set to delivery mode SMI. While this seems reasonable if the entry was unmasked, I consider it dubious for masked entries. In Linux, such behavior is benign since when the entry later is being used for some normal interrupt, the old setting is simply overwritten. In Xen, however, ioapic_guest_write() uses the vector field to determine the previous

Problems with power management xen 3.4
I''ve a problem with managing power consumption on Intel Nehalem CPU. I''ve installed Xen 3.4 on our Dell PowerEdge T610 system on a Ubuntu 9.04 distribution. I recompiled the kernel 2.6.30rc5. Now I can see the c-states of the CPUs but no access to P-states information and the frequency scaling does not work. By the way, if I run the kernel 2.6.28.13 which is the last one

Hi Team, For a XenServer (5.6 sp2) crash I have got following in the crash logs. xen-unstable hvm problem
Hi I am trying to install Windows using HVM but I get an error message that is totally useless and I am unable to figure out what the problem is. I just pulled xen-unstable.hg because nothing else supports my CPU yet. So here is what I get when I simply try to create the domain: [2008-05-28 13:55:26 16515] DEBUG (__init_s:1072) XendDomainInfo.create([''vm'',

Booting Xen 4.1.3 Dom0 hangs with PANIC on CPU 6: Xen BUG at io_apic.c:129
Hi all, I have searched the net and haven''t found a good answer so I hope perhaps someone here can help. I have an IBM x3850 (8863) that I am upgrading from SLES11SP1 to SLES11SP2, and at the same time XEN is being upgraded as part of the distro. The server is used as a Xen host for up to 6 guests. Anyway, the server boots fine with the SLES11SP2 default kernel, and the trace

[VT-D]iommu.c:775: iommu_page_fault: iommu->reg = ffff828bfff57000
Hello, I have been working sometime now on getting a HVM accepting a PCI card from the host. As was said in the VT-D wiki I bought an ASUS P5E VM DO motherboard (rel 0803) which has the VT-D option in the bios. I want to pass a Hauppauge PVR 500 card to a virtual machine running LinuxMCE. After first trying XEN 3.2.1 which did not enable the "VT-D virtualisation" bit in xm dmesg, i

[PATCH] [VTD] Add a check for interrupt remapping of ioapic RTE
For IOAPIC interrupt remapping, it only needs to remap ioapci RTE, should not remap other IOAPIC registers, which are IOAPIC ID, VERSION and Arbitration ID. This patch adds the check for this and only remap ioapci RTE. Re: RE: Re: Re: when timer go back in dom0 save and restore ormigrate, PV domain hung
F.Y.I >>> "Tian, Kevin" <kevin.tian@intel.com> 08.11.27. 11:50 >>>Sorry for a typo. I did mean domU instead of dom0. :-) The point here is that time_resume will sync to new system time and wall clock at restore, and thus pv guest should be able to continue... Xen system time is not wallclock time which just counts up from power up. As Keir points out, only its

Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 2
(I accidently (cross) posted this also in the xen-bugs mailing list. This wasn''t my intention. Sorry for that) Hi, I have two kernels vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64 vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 As you can see, distributions are the same, the latter differs by loading xen stuff. When booting the xen kernel (vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64) I noticed a problem which does not occur in the non

Problems with power management
I do not seem to be able to get any where with the power management functions. I have had a look at the xenpm Wiki page, but it hasn''t helped. Its probably something completely obvious, but I can''t see it. I running Xen 3.4.0 on Centos 5.3 x86_64 using the gitco RPMs on an Intel S5000PSL motherboard with 2 x Xeon 5410s. about IOAPIC in Xen 3.0
Hi, all, I read the manuals about user.pdf and interface.pdf. But no documents introduce the interrupt mechanism in Xen 3.0. Because now we use native drivers, what about interrupt? If ioapic is needed in Xen 3.0 or lapic is required? If someone can provide docs about Xen interrupt mechanism? Thanks, Yang _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list

[PATCH] Dom0 Kernel - Fixes for saving/restoring MSI/MSI-X across Dom0 S3
Hi, Keir, This patch is a bugfix for saving and restoring MSI/MSI-X across S3. Currently, Dom0''s PCI layer unmaps MSI when S3 and maps them back when resuming. However, this triggers unexpected behaviors. For example, if the drivers still holds that irq at the point of unmapping MSI, Xen will force unbind that pirq. But after resume, we have no mechanism to rebind that pirq. The device
