normalizing prizes to a specific year - how to?
Dear list
I have a large data frame with house prices. Prices have been converted
to price per m2, to be able to compare. Prices are spread over almost 10
years, each price is tagged with the year it relates to.
I would like to 'normalize' all the prices to, eg. 2010 prices.
The data frame looks like this
> head(dafP)
Y P
1 2004 11199.60
2 2005 15310.10
3 2005 19491.50

How to render from with <%%> ?
I have a loop that I iterate through in my view.
<%
coll.each do |itm|
puts(itm.value)
end
%>
How do I render the itm.value without using a <%= %> tag? Should puts
not work?
Joerg
P.S. There is a good enough reason for me wanting to do this :-)

belongs to a publisher. Using the options_for_select is working fine
as far as creating the various options, but it will not output the
"selected=''selected''" bit of html needed to identify which publisher

selected attribute in options_for_select
Hello Everyone
I have a select_tag which I populate using a map, I use
options_for_select method to pass the map and "selected" value. For some
reason I can not get the option "selected" based on the value I pass to
the selected attribute. Here is the code
<%= select_tag :current_course,
options_for_select( Course.find(:all).map {|p| [p.title,p.id]},

How do I show the selected values in options_for_select? Not as simple as it sounds.

I think options_for_select is backwards
With a hash such as:
stuff = {''1''=>''desc 1'', ''2''=>''desc 2'', ''3''=>''desc 3''}
options_for_select(stuff) will output:
<option id="desc 1">1</option>
<option id="desc 2">2</option>
<option id="desc 3">3</option>

options_for_select - how to set the selected value?
Ok, this should be simple but I am finding it''s not and previous

I have a select_tag with 4 values pulled in via a helper:
