links always go to 'localhost'
I am using Apache2.2 + Mongrel on my machine.
Now I am accessing it over LAN. When I enter http://mymachinename/myapp
it opens fine but when I click on any link in my rails app, it replaces
mymachinename with localhost (http://localhost/myapp/controller/action)
and thus I am unable to access it from remote location.

problem serving pdf files
I''m using the instructions from
http://blog.codahale.com/2006/06/19/time-for-a-grown-up-server-rails-mongrel-apache-capistrano-and-you/to
configure mongrel_cluster with apache mod_proxy_balancer. Everything
works fine, except when I try to link to a pdf file to be opened in a new
window, it displays the contents of the pdf as text instead of opening it as
a pdf document through Acrobat.

Expert feedback needed
Hello list,
Some time ago I was looking for apache (as non balanced proxy) +
mongrel configurations. Almost everybody seemed to use similar
approaches (one of these could be found @ mongrel.rubygorge.org docs)
with mod_rewrite. I don''t use proxy_balancer because I don''t need it
at the moment (my site has pretty low traffic). This is apache
configuration that I''m using

trying to add another app
hey all,
I have an app working great with apache2 and mongrel_cluster.
However, I''m trying to run another application and now when I go to
app1.comit falls to
app2.com and the opposite. That''s probably because I messed up somewhere
with the cluster.
this is the content of my conf.d/app1.proxy_cluster.conf:

Help w/ Apache Proxying Mongrel
I''m running Apache 2.0 as a proxy to several Mongrel/Rails apps, so that all
of my Mongrel apps can be routed through the single Apache IP address.
Apache 2.0 is already in use on the system, which is why I haven''t decided
to use Apache 2.2.
The problem I''m having is that this setup only works for Rails apps that do
not use the public/index.html file as the main

mongrel stops responding after period of no use
I just moved from apache2/fcgi to apache2.2/mongrel and everything
seems to work great except for 2 issues, one being major and one
minor.
the major issue i am experiencing is that after a period of time where
my rails apps are not used, typically overnight, the mongrel processes
become unresponsive. I currently have 3 apps running behind an
apache2.2 proxy. every morning when i come in to

mod_proxy, mongrel, redirect issue
Hello,
I am configuring apache 2.2 to serve my rails app through mongrel at
the root of my server. First, I redirect all http traffic to https
with the following:
ServerName emiliano
NameVirtualHost *:80
<VirtualHost *:80>
RedirectPermanent / https://emiliano #this server is only accessed internally
</VirtualHost>
Inside the <VirtualHost *:443> section, I have the following

CruiseControlRb behind apache
I managed to find this in the archives, so far: http://www.nabble.com/Setting-up-CCRB-behind-apache-proxy-tt14016053.html#a14099749
Found a better alternative to doing this in my .htaccess instead of
messing with the httpd.conf, in case someone is interested:
--- snip ---
RewriteEngine On
### for cruisecontrol
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://localhost:3333/$1 [P]

Multiple rails apps with Mongrel
I''m trying to set up several different Rails apps on the same domain, each
one running Mongrel. After reading all of the documentation, it''s fairly
clear how to use subdomains - create several Apache virtual hosts, each of
which has a different ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse command to redirect
from different ports (ie, 3000, 3100), and then have each Mongrel instance

Set base url?
I have an application running on a Lighttpd instance which is proxied by an
Apache server. It seems to work fine but my urls are incorrect: all urls
reference / which is not where my application runs at the Apache server.
How do I set the base url of a Rails application?
My Apache has the following proxy rules:
ProxyPass /hieraki http://localhost:3001
ProxyPassReverse /hieraki

[PATCH server] oVirt server single network installer
Updates the installer to handle the scenario in which the guest and
admin networks are the same by using an alternative httpd conf.
Verified to work (eg oVirt managed vms are bootable) on the
oVirt appliance so far.

strange charecters after redcloth usage
I''m using redcloth on my blog to transform my input into html. Alot of
times if I type "I''ve" I''ll wind up with "I,ve" except that it''s not a
comma but a very similar charecter. This is really killing my rss
feeds. What''s causing this? How do I fix it?

mongrel cluster (+ Apache 2.2.4 + proxy balancer) not redirecting correctly
I''m in the process of setting up a mongrel cluster at the moment, and I''m
running into a bit of an issue. Even worse is that I''m not sure whether
this is a mongrel thing, or an Apache thing. While I''m inclined to think
that this might be a balancer thing, I decided there was a higher chance
hearing back from mongrel-users than from apache-users, so I''d

Testing which RuntimeError is raised
I am just starting to use unit testing. Way cool. But I am not finding
very clear docs on assert_raise. I have managed to write a test that
tells me that the destroy I am trying to test fails with a
RuntimeError (as it should). However, I would really like to test that
it rails for the specific reason I have in my model. How can I get
more specific? Am I going to have to create my own exception

Session problem mongrel behind Apache proxy
Hi,
I''ve configured mongrel_clusters behind an Apache 2.2 proxy using
named virtual host. Session are saved as ActiveRecordSession. But the
cookies created on client side doesn''t correspond to session data
saved in database (keys are different). The RoR app react just like
it doesn''t have a session at all.
If I don''t use Apache as a proxy/load balancer

Mongrel/Apache and static content
I''m looking for an easy way to have mongrel only serve dynamic railscontent, while letting Apache serve non-Rails content. Unfortunately,it seems that you have to segregate the static content in its ownfolder. That was also the case with the SCGI runner. I used thetrick outlined athttp://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.ruby.rails/23347 to managethis. I was curious if a similar

Deploying in subdir w/ Apache and Mongrel
Hi all,
I have been searching for the past 2 or 3 days on how to deploy my
rails apps within subdirectories (ie: http://www.domain.com/myapp or
even domain.com/rails/myapp) and have found a few tutorials, but all
have left something out it seems. I would like to do this rather than
http://myapp.domain.com/ since it will be usd internally and I have no
real direct access to dns to make the

Problem getting Rails to emit the correct (proxy) domain in route urls
Behind the scenes my app runs like this:
http://myapp.mydomain.com/myapp and
and
https://myapp.mydomain.com/myapp
are Apache 2.2 virtual hosts proxy-balanced to a mongrel cluster
on the same machine.
But I need to make these available here:
https://www.mydomain.com/myapp
and
https://myapp.mydomain.com/myapp
are on a second server using ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse to
