Error in rbind(info, getNamespaceInfo(env, "S3methods"))
Dear all, I'm experiencing an unusual installation error for one package. Could anyone suggest how I can best investigate this from here please? I'm sorry this isn't very much to go on. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. The problem seems to be my library. It is large (3,418 packages) and I'd like to avoid rebuilding it, if possible. All packages are up to

uniform type indicator
this is fascinating: > http://daringfireball.net/linked/2011/08/05/markdown-uti i don't know (and don't care about) any possible significance of such a pronouncement on a "uniform type indicator", but i think that it's interesting that gruber has decided to make _any_ type of statement on markdown, with the big moves now underfoot, and doubly so when he chooses to

plugin announcement: acts_as_fu
We''ve all seen the job listings. We know what they''re looking for. Rockstars. Code Monkeys. Rails Ninjas. And you''re left thinking, "But I''m just a programmer." Well, not anymore. Today, you become a Rails Kung-Fu Master! "Not me," you say. "I''ve already tried using all the acts_as_something plugins and all the something_fu

Operator consoles for large systems
Hi; I've been asked to look at a large asterisk system implementation, which would be a candidate for either a large cluster of PCs or a smaller cluster based on Signate's SGI box(es). I've waded through the requirements document, and I think I have more or less all of the requirements covered with the exception of a group of operator consoles (probably 4 of them). There are, as I

RoR Developer needed - short-term assignment
Hey all, My apologies for re-posting, but we at the Internet Radio Project (http://www.projectkir.org) could really use a RoR developer. It''s time to move away from the core PHP implementation we''ve got. This IS a PAID position... and we''d assist by providing the templates, css, etc... and could turn into ongoing development work. I''ve posted a listing on

External eSata ZFS raid possible?
Is this possible? I want an external case with 4 HD in, each having an individual eSata cable. I plug in this case only when needed (each HD plugs into my PC separately), and do something like ">import ZFS pool" and use my ZFS raid. When done, I unplug it with ">export ZFS pool" or something similar command. This way I save energy, less noise, etc. I want it only as a

Eric Meyer about frameworks (Rails, too)
Hi, for those of you who haven''t read: http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2006/05/08/flummoxed-by-frameworks/ ""Oh", they gush, "you should absolutely try Ruby on Rails! It''s so easy! It''s almost like writing regular English!" Which means they''re clearly on crack, because Ruby on Rails is so very different from a human-written language

ActiveRecord::Associations ER diagram/macros
Hello, I found an interesting ER diagram on the "Module: ActiveRecord::Associations::ClassMethods" page of the Rails Framework Documentation : http://ar.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveRecord/Associations/ClassMethods.html At the beginning we can read ? Associations are a set of macro-like class methods for tying objects together through foreign keys. They express relationships like

Using forms in Facebook(er)
Hi, I just ran across an interesting occurrence and maybe this is well know but I thought I''d ask about it. I have a form in my canvaspage . I had set the method to "GET" and I kept getting an IncorrectSignature exception in the facebooker plugin. When I change the method type to "POST" lo and behold things work. No exception. I don''t understand

oslec using sample.c for long(er) dumps
Hello all, Since a while some of our SIP users complain about gaps (sometimes multiple seconds of silence) in the RX audio stream (direction pbx -> phones). Our configuration is an Asterisk with two Wildcard TE410P cards that are connected with E1 PRI's to an external server running callcenter software. The SIP users use Snom and Polycom phones. The gaps are not present in

Windows dll compilation (mingw32): how to find R.h and other head er files when sketching short functions
Sorry, this seems like a particularly stupid question, but here goes. It relates to some "sketching" work I'm doing under Windoze. I can only get my C code to find R.h and friends if I shift these header files files and folders into the analogous mingw32 folders. This seems a rather clumsy way of doing things, and I wondered what I've missed? (I'm using the gcc -02
