behaviour of ''xm block-attach'' changed with 3.1.2?
''xm block-attach'' doesn''t let me assign the same backend device anymore, even if I use ''r!'' or ''w!''. I think this has changed since 3.1.1 (or maybe since 3.1.0). Is this the way it is supposed to work? Thanks James _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com

rsync 3.1.0/3.1.1 incompatible with 2.5.7
I develop GNU Parallel. GNU Parallel uses rsync to transfer files. GNU Parallel has a design goal of not requiring the users to change their setup to be able to use GNU Parallel. In other words: If you are called as a consultant to work on a Centos3 server untouched since 2007, then you can expect even the newest version of GNU Parallel will work flawlessly. Centos3 has rsync 2.5.7 installed. On

GPLPV, clock drift and PVUSB in Windows XP HVM
1. Shouldn''t the GPLPV drivers take care of the (bad) clock drift I''m experiencing in my Windows XP HVM? Or is there some other way around this problem that I haven''t been able to find on Google? How can I tell if the GPLPV drivers are active? I''ve added the /gplpv switch to the boot.ini file and the virtual NIC is definitely using the GPLPV version but other

GPL PV drivers for Windows - WDM version
I''m been busily converting the xenpci and xenvbd drivers from WDF to WDM to resolve a few issues including potential licensing problems with the Microsoft WDF and to (hopefully) allow them to function as boot drivers when doing install and system recovery. It was a fairly major rewrite of xenpci, and xenvbd, which are now working (booting and running without crashes so far). I

Deployment issue with Rails 3.1.1
Hi, I''ve recently updated an application to 3.1.1 and Capistrano started to fail at the assets:precompile task. It''s a strange bug that don''t always happen (it actually worked a couple of time) and there''s no error message, it only display "Killed". Running the rake task locally work though. I''ve reverted to 3.1.0 and now it work with

[PATCH][SVM] Fix 32bit Windows guest VMs save/restore
The attached patch fixes the save/restore issue seen with 32bit Windows guest VMs. The root cause is that current Xen doesn''t intercept SYSENTER-related MSRs for 32bit guest VMs. As a result, the guest_sysenter_xxx fields contain incorrect values and shouldn''t be used for save/restore. This patch checks the LMA bit of EFER register in the save/restore code path. Please apply it

PoD, 4.2, and current/maximum reservation
A user has pointed out a problem with GPLPV under Xen 4.2 when using PoD. I''m using the difference between XENMEM_maximum_reservation and XENMEM_current_reservation to tell me how much I should balloon down to account for PoD, but when the user has ballooned down to 1G (from 4Gb or 8GB), GPLPV logs the following: 13005008825593: XenPCI XENMEM_maximum_reservation = 262400

Unsynchronized object state detection
Is there a way to specify on a per-object basis that Puppet should merely report that an object needs to be updated without actually performing the update? This would make it possible to detect changes to critical objects (e.g. config files) that Puppet shouldn''t try to fix automaticaly. -- Jos Backus jos at catnook.com

How to configure win 2003 standard to show multiple CPU?
When I install Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition on Xen, I didn''t configure multicore (vcpus = 1, cpus not set). Now I''d like to fully utilize multicore, but whatever I set, windows task manager can not see more than 1 cpu. Do I have to reinstall the OS with vcpus and cpus being set properly? Since the image file is licensed, is there any way I configure windows to show multi

follow-up on ISA intrusion detection
Hi, I wrote a mail a few days ago concerning my setup with a front/back firewall, shorewall being front and ISA server 2004 acting as back firewall. I said that ISA server is logging some "intrusion attempts" namely requests coming from external interface to the internal network. As this shouldn''t happen (all intrusion attempts should be stopped by shorewall) I begun to

detecting a ''block-configure'' via xenbus
How should I be detecting a block-configure operation done in Dom0 in a HVM DomU? Under Debian Lenny''s Xen 3.2.1, when I execute such a command, Dom0 writes to the backend values ''params'' and ''type'', twice, but doesn''t update the ''sectors'' value to match the new device, or initiate a state change. Given that, the best I can

HVM domain with write caching going on somewhere to disk
I just about have my PV block device drivers booting, except just before the login screen appears I get a message that the registry couldn''t be written out. I''m pretty sure that this is because some data from the int13 interface provided by the qemu intel ide driver that has been written, hasn''t actually made it to the block device (lvm volume in my case). Xen 3.1.1 HVM Windows 2000 Server doesn''t see multiple VCPUs
Hi Everyone, I upgraded from Xen 3.1.0 to 3.1.1 when it was released and immediately noticed that my Windows 2000 Server guest systems no longer showed multiple CPUs in task manager. All of the guest config files are the same as before. The only thing that has changed is that the system boots with Xen 3.1.1 and I installed the 3.1.1 tools, all from source. Anyone have any suggestions or similar
