Can''t search fields with space
Hi,
I have a user model that has a city field which is searchable using
acts_as_ferret.
But I can''t get it to return any result whether I use
:city => {:store => :no, :index => :untokenized},
or
:city => {:store => :no} in my User model''s acts_as_ferret option
>>> User.find_by_contents("city:(cal poly)")

Parallel indexing doesn''t work?
Hi,
I''m trying to get parallelized ferret indexing working for my AAF
indices, based on the example in the O''Reilly Ferret shortcut.
However, the resulting indices after merging seem to have no actual
documents.
I went and made minimal changes to the example in the Ferret shortcut
pdf, and indeed can''t get that to work either. I''d appreciate any help

acts_as_ferret : cannot use a customized Analyzer (as indicated in the AdvancedUsageNotes)
Hi all,
I cannot make aaf (rev. 220) use my custom analyzer, despite following the
indications @
http://projects.jkraemer.net/acts_as_ferret/wiki/AdvancedUsage
To pinpoint the problem, I created a model + a simple analyzer with 2 stop
words : "fax" and "gsm".
test 1 : model.rebuild_index + model.find_by_contents("fax") # fax is a
stop word.

fuzzy search question
Hi,
I''ve got a question about FuzzyQueries. Say I''m doing a search for
people by name, and I want to allow fuzzy results if there aren''t
enough hits with a regular query. This is easy enough; just redo the
search with the fuzzy query if original_results.total_hits is less
than some threshold. However, I would like the exact-match results to
have a higher score

No, that search model is just a plain class that backs your search form.

Problems using acts_as_ferret
Hi all,
I''m trying to use acts_as_ferret and have run into a brick wall.
My model is Page
My controller is Pages_controller.
When in console, I can search for contents, and find results. For
example, when I search for "spam" it "finds" 7 results.

return ONLY total_hits without querying from real database
Hey guys,
I know I can run search(q).total_hits, but if I try to put :limit=>0 it
gives me an error. I don''t want it actually query any of the results, I
just want it to tell me how many total_hits I would have if I wanted to
search it.
How can I do this?

pagination in acts_as_ferret
I''m just wondering where I would put the pagination for search results
when using "acts_as_ferret".
At the moment my search code is..
def search
@query = params[:query] || ''''
unless @query.blank?
@results = Tutorial.find_by_contents @query
end
end

total_hits and conditions
Hi. I''m running 0.11.4. The problem I''m having, appears to have been solved
before according to various posts I googled up, but possibly the fix got removed
from 0.11.3 to 0.11.4?
re = Entry.multi_search(''service'', [Ticket], options, {})
re.size
620
re.total_hits
620
Now add conditions:

Pagination problem with acts_as_ferret
Hi,
am using this wonderful plugin acts_as_ferret and according to the
tutorial at http://railsenvy.com/2007/2/19/acts-as- ? rial#basic
I worked it out except the pagination feature.
If I have 12 records and I give limit to 10, its correctly displaying 10
records in the first page and is giving the link to the second page too.
But when I go to the next page I find the same 10 records instead of

I''m experiencing with AAF and Ferret with the intention of deploying

Search Multiple Models
Hello folks,
I have four models, each with their own separate index.
Models = Articles, Blogs, MusicTracks, and MediaFiles
I have individual searches within each section of the site working just
fine, but I want to have a gloabl search that searches across all of
them at the same time and returns the results ordered by score.
Here''s how far I am now...

Range searches some times they work, some times not...
Hi i''m using ferret to enable geographical postcode. I take a postcode

retrieve the associated x y coordinates in metres from the db. Then i
get two temp x''s and y''s and search for all results that are within the
box, see code below.

Hi, I had ferret working wonderfully but i am regretting doing a gem
update today.
I had alot of trouble first installing it and was really happy to have
it working. The upgrade was from 0.3.1 to 0.4.0.
The problem is;

Strange indexing issues with CachedModel, STI, and AAF
I started using robotcoop''s CachedModel class in my project but have encountered problems when using it with the acts_as_ferret plugin. It seems it doesn''t index everything in my STI model, also if I do a search from my base STI class I get a result count but no results. If I run the same search from one of the children STI models I get the appropriate results (if the information

How can I do my own search limits?
I''m trying to add a way to query across associations for a model in
acts_as_ferret. Say I have a model A and it has a relationship with
model B. Like say a Book has many pages. I want to search across the
pages of the Book and produce a list of unique books who''s pages match
the terms. So if I have a page that hits then I will add that book to
my list of results. Right

multi_search problems, Never go away!
Hello, I am trying to use the multi_search method, but I keep getting
type error on nil objects, I send it [Model1,Model2] and it seems as
though the class names keep getting clobbered and turn to nil, somewhere
along the multi_index area. I tried to trace what was going on, but I
got nothing, also, this only happens when there are actually hits(thank
god, most of the time). Perhaps some insight?
