Xen domU''s and iscsi initaitor problems.
Hello, I have been using Xen now for several months and have been
quite successful until attempting to utilize iscsi within my domU''s.
My research has turned up many posts of people using iscsi with no
problems, and I have found no others with the problem I seem to be
experiencing. If this has been covered on this list in the past,
please accept my humble apologies.

Re: Programatically checking if we''re in a domU or dom0
Thanks for your answers...
But IMHO it''s hacky and error-prone to rely
on the name of the host to determine
if it''s a domU or a dom0 (or an unmodified
kernel) :(
I don''t like that much neither changing
the name of the kernel :-/
I need to be able to determine, as a
normal user (that is: non-root), if I''m
running in a domU or not (I can already
tell if

Debian DomU not properly mounting swap
I am running Xen 3.0.1 with Gentoo for Dom0 and when I create a DomU
with Debian, the kernel or system does not seem to recognize the volume
I have created for swap on the DomU and will not mount it during boot or
after.
here is the disk section of the xen config for the DomU:
disk = [ ''phy:xen-disks/disk-root,hda1,w'',''phy:xen-disks/disk-swap,hda2,w'' ]

RE: correction... cannot create 2GB (not 2MB) domU
On Unisys 16X 16GB ES7000/one with SLES10 Beta11 updated to xen changeset 9998, attempted to create a 2GB domU and get Error: The privileged domain did not balloon. xm list shows that before the attempt to create the domain, dom0 has 15910 MB memory. After the error, dom0 has dropped down to 13993 MB.

kexec for domU
I''ve searched in a couple of places, but have yet to find a conclusive answer for this question: is kexec supported for domU kernels, yet? I saw a couple of developer threads about possible implementation, but I tried it in SLES 11 (2.6.32.13-0.5-xen) and I get an error:
Invalid memory segment 0x2000 - 0x595fff
I was wondering if there''s something that needs to be done for

domU x-server startup
Hi,
I have recently started taking a look at Xen and have so far setup a Xen
installation on a Fedora Core 5 host.
I have also created a FC5 guest which boots up fine.
I have found on the internet instructions on how to start the x-server for a
linux based guest by using VNC. And, although I''ve managed to start the
x-server, it is all done manually.
I.e. start the Linux guest, log

There is a huge variation in the throughput between dom0 & domU. To my
surprise the throughput between domU -> dom0 is more. The value which I
specified are consistent values.

domU static IP
Hi,
I''m trying to setup xen on a server with bridge networking. I have
RedHat as my dom0. I have two Ubuntu instances and one CentOS instance
as domU''s. All of them (dom0 and domU) use static ip addresses.
The configuration files for domU''s specify in the vif line what ip
address to be assigned to that particular domU. It works fine for my
ubuntu domU''s. But

console access for domU owners
I''m running a number of domU''s on a server, each with a console bound
to a specific local port. I''d like to provide the users of my domU''s
with access to the console, but I was wondering how people have been
able to do this while limiting access to the console ports. That is, I
could provide the users with a shell on the local machine, but then
they could telnet

i get the error.

mouse under sdl and windows domU
Hi all
Ive just installed an XP and a 2003 server hvm instances. They way I
read the docs, a ps2 mouse will automatically map to ps2 in the domU.
The problem I having however is that the mouse ''flicks'' off the screen
as soon as i activate the window and move the mouse. Just like an
incorrect mouse driver was installed. If I look at the windows mouse
configuation its using the

OpenSolaris domU on RedHat Linux dom0
Hi,
I''m trying to create OpenSolaris (2008.11) domU on RedHat Linux dom0.
I''m using a file backed VBD. I used the iso image to first launch and
install OpenSolaris into the file VBD. Once that process is complete,
I''m trying to run it using the config file below:
name = ''opensolaris''
vcpus = 1
memory = "512"

AW: Using serial port from a domU
Just something to be added:
- This procedure doesn''t work with a Fedora 9 DomU
- Maybe you have to blacklist some modules in the Dom0: AFAIK you have to rmmod (better: blacklist on boot using modprobe.conf) these modules: serial_core 8250 and 8250_pnp

one DomU, 2 IP =>why ? any ideas,
Hi,
I needed to switch one DomU from one IP to an other tonight.
I''m on centos 5.2 (Dom0 and DomU)
Therefore, I made a script using perl to make so. This script modify the
IPADDR line in the following files :
- /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
- /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0
- /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/ifcfg-eth0
Then I reboot the VM and it

xen domU ID and static routing
Hi,
I use a EQ 4 dedicated root server by hetzner with ubuntu jaunty. I
installed xen 3.3 with debian kernel and brought up 3 domUs.
Now comes networking...
Hetzner does not allow bridged networking so I have to use routed mode
in xen. No Problem so far, but the Problem actually is:
When I bring up a domU the routing table is created by the xen-script
vif-routing. The network interface name
