AAF and DRb with highlighting
How would I change this method in order to get highlighting working with DRb? I''ve given up on searching on Google, I''m getting no results that are actually helpful. def self.find_storage_by_contents(query, options = {}) # Get the index that acts_as_ferret created for us index = self.aaf_index.ferret_index results = [] default_options = {:limit => 10,

Escaping special characters before highlighting
Hi all. I need to perform some operation on the results of a ferret search before it gets highlighted. Is there a way to do this? This is my code which calls the highlighting inside a Rails View: <%= result.ferret_highlight(@query, :field => :ferret_text, :pre_tag => ''<span class="keyword">'', :post_tag => ''</span>'') %> --

DRb server crashing
I''m having a problem where the DRb server seems to be disappearing (crashing?) and I don''t know how to track down the cause or work around the problem. Unfortunately I haven''t found a way to reproduce the problem, but it seems to happen fairly often (maybe once a day). Other then that ferret seems to be working well. I can''t seem to find any trace of the

Effective search when knowing ID
Hi list, I''m new to ferret and I wonder what is the best way to search if I know one fields id and want to search on its content. I have experimented with FilteredQuery but I don''t know if this is the best way. Eg. index = Index::Index.new(:path => ''/tmp/all'') @dbh = Database.instance.connect result = @dbh.exec("SELECT pk_fulltext_id, fulltext_text

:store => :yes doesn''t work in some cases
I''m not really sure if this is a bug, but it makes my search results look a bit strange. I have an acts_as_ferret declaration that looks like: acts_as_ferret :store_class_name => true, :remote => true, :fields => { :ferret_name => { :store => :yes, :boost => 2 }, :ferret_content => { :store => :yes } } I store both fields so that I

Which method to use to get content from index with a_a_f?
Hi everybody, After staring at the a_a_f API for quite sometime now, I decided it''s time to ask... Which method should I use to get content from the index without using highlight? Consider the following controller action: def preview if params[:search].blank? # normal case @text = @myfile. # which method do I use here to get the :text from the index??? else # if we come from

Ferret DRB - can add/edit index, but can''t search
I''m trying to use the Ferret DRB server to avoid concurrency issues when using multiple mongrels. I can successfully add and edit data on my index via the DRB server, however, when I search the index, I get the following error: DRb::DRbConnError (DRb::DRbServerNotFound): /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/drb/drb.rb:1647:in `current_server'' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/drb/drb.rb:1709:in

How to use fixnum in RangeQuery?
As far as i know about the RangeQuery is that it need fixed-length number in query options such as RangeQuery.new(:count, :>= => ''00'', :<= => ''99''). But is there a mechanism to use a fixnum in the options instead of filling the left with 0? Regards. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Range Query Term parsing bug in 0.10.6 win32 ?
Hi, I think I''ve found a Range Query Term parsing bug ... the following term should return names >= ''A'', but instead generates a parsing error Term: name:[A> Message: Nil bounds for range. A range must include either lower bound or an upper bound However, the slightly larger term, name:[AA> works just fine. Any pointers please? Kind Regards Neville

Two repeatable crash bugs in Ferret proper
Hi guys! Been reading this list for a while. I have two repeatable Ferret crash bugs, both seg faults. 1. The first bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you use quotes in a search argument (eg ''file_name:"file name"'') 2. The second bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you attempt to index text with very long tokens (above 256 chars). It may have something to do with

Odd indexing issue
Hey Dave, I just contributed $100 to the ferret donation box. My project is earning no money yet (but hopefully will), for now I hope this helps you out and covers me for asking stupid questions ;). To get a distance sorted output, I am passing an array of the id field from a ferret search through to mysql in a custom select statement. SELECT ... id IN (#{ids.join(",")}) This has

multibyte character corrupt in highlight method
When I apply highlight() method to the search result, multibyte characters are corrupted. The post_tag is located in the middle of last character, so the last character corrupts. Here is my code. query = "SOME_MULTIBYTE_CHARS" searcher.search_each(query) do |doc_id, score| puts searcher.highlight(query, doc_id, :field => :content) end And this is the result. ... bla, bla, bla,

Modern FireFox on CentOS 7
No idea who this will be useful for, but starting with FireFox 49 I have been running a modern FireFox with CentOS 7. I needed to in order to play with the new Service Worker based Push API but it has other things FireFox 45 ESR doesn't have - such as working html5 details/summary tags - which I make us when a page needs a Table of Contents, for example. Anyway I start with Fedora
