Will Xen support PCI add-on card for serial ports?
hi,
It looks that Xen currently only support ISA serial port, which is onboard.
Is there any plan to support the PCI serial port?
Thanks,

How to debug DomU WinXP throught serial port with windbg?
hi,
I am using xen-unstable version and I can use the serial port to debug
DomU openSuSE Linux with kgdb very well. But it doesn''t work when I am
trying to debug DomU WinXP with windbg.
I happened to find this link
http://www.evilbitz.com/2006/12/13/howto-debugging-a-remote-windows-hvm-under-xen-using-windbg/,
but it still doesn''t work for me.
Any suggestions about this?

Can we disable secondary_bus_reset in runtime?
I think we need this feature at least for debugging purpose, right?
Or, do we already have this feature?
Thanks,

xen serial port access for domu?
Is serial port "passthrough" possible for the version of xen that
ships with centos 5.2?
I've disabled the xen hypervisor serial console, and can see the
serial port in dom0. I've masked out the 8250, 8250_pnp and
serial_core modules on dom0 and rebooted. xm create domain
fails with the error that exactly 4 arguments are required and
only 3 were given.
Steps I followed:

capture xen & dom0 serial output in HP ILO''s virtual serial port
Hey,
Does anyone know how I can capture both Xen & Dom0 console output on a
"Virtual Serial Port" from HP''s iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) interface?
Plain linux is no problem, but combined with Xen it seems to go
haywire :-)
So far I''ve been combining options and the only thing that actually
gave me some output (albeit only the Xen console, not dom0) was this:

Xen serial console on Bladecenter virtual serial port
Has anyone accessed Xen or the dom0 Linux serial console on the virtual
serial port of a Bladecenter blade via Serial-over-LAN?
Was able to see bios boot screen and access grub boot menu, but only the
first few characters of the kernel boot sequence are shown, then nothing.

Xen-4.1 : Serial port from domU ?
Hello,
With Xen-4, is it still possible to access some serial device
(an UPS in my case) from a domU ?
I can''t get it to work : ttyS0 is here in dom0 ( as shown by
commands like grep serial /proc/ioports ; dmesg | grep ttyS ;
stty -aF /dev/ttyS0 ) but not from a domU :
$ grep serial /proc/ioports
$ dmesg | grep ttyS
$ stty -aF /dev/ttyS0
stty: /dev/ttyS0: Input/output error

problem with serial port under XEN
Hallo,
we use XEN with IA64. The console is not redirected to /dev/ttyS0. We
need this port
to configure an external storage with minicom but we cannot use it. We
also see with
modinfo no 8250 module which should control the serial port. We use XEN
3.0.3. Is
there a workaround available?
regards
Bernd

In changeset 19130:c8962b24fb50, when using iommu=1, it goes into the

Virsh Domain - Serial port; what does the attribute “port” of the serial node's child “target” do?
Hi all!
I want to assign a real serialport to my kvm virtual machine via virsh.
When I add the following XML snippet to the domain xml, it gets successfully
attached but not as I expected it to happen.
<serial type='dev'>
<source path='/dev/ttyS3'/>
<target type='isa-serial' port='2'>
<model name='isa-serial'/>

serial port from domU
dear list,
i''m trying to get a serial port working on my domU.
I''m running debian etch (2.6.18-4-xen-amd64 and xen 3.0.3-1), same problem
with debian testing
I noticed that CONFIG_XEN_DISABLE_SERIAL is set to yes.
But still serial access from dom0 works fine.
after blacklisting the 8250/8250_pnp/serial_core drivers,
i still cannot get serial access from domU (i do have the
