''lowest common denominator'' cpuid feature set
I want to be able to test live migration... I have an intel box and an amd box, so live migration between them won''t ''just work''. From what I''ve read though, I should be able to use cpuid to turn off all the cpu features which might be different between them. Is this do-able? I''m willing to accept any resulting loss of performance etc. James

[PATCH v3] xen/tools: Add 64 bits big bar support
Currently it is assumed PCI device BAR access < 4G memory. If there is such a device whose BAR size is larger than 4G, it must access > 4G memory address. This patch enable the 64bits big BAR support on hvmloader. v3 changes from v2: - Remain original print information v2 changes from v1 as comments by Jan. 1) Set Dynamic MMIO high memory address instead of a fixed number 640G 2) Mask

Problems with hyperthreading in Windows HVM
Hi, I have been trying to get Hyperthreading to work in a Windows HVM on Xen 4.1.2 as described in ''xmexample.hvm''. I think I have set it up correctly, but I can''t seem to get it to work. There is not much documentation on it and most topics are from years ago. I''m curious to know to whether this functionality is still supposed to work. I''m aware that

WIndows 2008, Quard Core Opteron, xen
Hello I have trouble with Quard Core Opteron and windows 2008(x86). By the way Windows device manager show 4 processors, BUT task manager show only one core. I found that my problem is not new. But solutions, provided by those people did not helped me. By the way, my windows is enterprise version, and as far as I know, it allows up to 8 processor sockets, so the trouble is not, that windows

Infinte loop in RtlPrefetchMemoryNonTemporal under Windows
I have been trying to track down a problem that occurs when my GPLPV drivers give Windows a packet with the NdisPacketTcpChecksumSucceeded flag set. The problem is that the machine locks hard. After some tedious work with the debugger, I have found that Windows makes a call to a routine called RtlPrefetchMemoryNonTemporal, which looks like this: 8088e579 mov eax, dword ptr

[PATCHv2] x86info: dump kvm cpuid's
The following makes 'x86info -r' dump hypervisor leaf cpu ids (for kvm this is signature+features) when running in a vm. On the guest we see the signature and the features: eax in: 0x40000000, eax = 00000000 ebx = 4b4d564b ecx = 564b4d56 edx = 0000004d eax in: 0x40000001, eax = 0100007b ebx = 00000000 ecx = 00000000 edx = 00000000 Hypervisor flag is checked to avoid output changes when

[PATCH][RESEND] qemu-xen: Intel GPU passthrough, fix OpRegion mapping (v3)
The OpRegion shouldn''t be mapped 1:1 because the address in the host can''t be used in the guest directly. This patch traps read and write access to the opregion of the Intel GPU config space (offset 0xfc). To work correctly this patch needs a change in hvmloader. HVMloader will allocate 2 pages for the OpRegion and write this address on the config space of the Intel GPU. Qemu

I get error in logs which says: ... Done register platform. [PATCH] xen PVonHVM: require at least Xen 3.4 as dom0
The XenPVHVM extensions have not been tested much on very old hypervisors. At least Xen 3.4 gets some testing with the pvops kernel. Require at least Xen 3.4 for the PVonHVM extensions. If an older hypervisor is detected the extensions will be disabled and the guest will only see emulated hardware. Signed-off-by: Olaf Hering <olaf@aepfle.de> --- arch/x86/xen/enlighten.c | 27

[PATCH 1/3] Paravirtualization: Kernel Ring Cleanups
Hi all, I've been looking at finding common ground between the VMI, Xen and other paravirtualization approaches, and after some discussion, we're getting somewhere. These first two patches are the fundamentals, stolen mainly from the VMI patches: removing assumptions about the kernel running in ring 0, and macro-izing all the obvious para-virtualize-needing insns. The third patch is
